I'm asking the question. You said you would take UNC with Marshall over UK, did you not? I'm trying to clarify your position.

oh i thought you were saying that the question was posed as it being 1 year and you were surprised by my choice, we have communication issues :ermm:

with that said...yea i would take UNC if it was for just this year or for the future, thats with strickland playing though :)

Ok. That's interesting to me. UK beat UNC head-to-head, albeit a close game, and UNC lost to Florida State by 33 points? UK has lost one game, on the road, at the buzzer.

To each their own I guess.

I understand the hate on Cal as a person, and jealousy and all that, but seriously... Do you think that all these players would keep playing for an inferior coach? I used to hate on his coaching ability, but I'll be honest with myself and you guys. The fact that he can get 4-6 freshman (regardless of skill level and athletic ability) to come together, play as a team, and be one of the top teams in the country year in and year out has to force anyone into admitting that his coaching ability is not that bad... lol

:clapping:

Good post, not biased.

and when a more experienced team with decent athletes comes along you see what happens, they get beat. as ive stated over and over in this thread i think cal is screwed next year when he has no more senior leadership i fully think that patterson/stevenson, then liggins/harrelson, and now miller really have made all 3 of his teams that much better and help them gel. without seniors and just rolling with frosh and soph's i think you are going to see these teams make alot of mistakes especially early on and take awhile to gel. once again JMO

What do you mean "when a more experienced team with decent athletes comes along you see what happens"?? UK beat WVU, UNC and Ohio State last season in March. That bracket alone should be worth a national title. UK has one loss this year and they've played Kansas, St Johns, UL and UNC (again). All those teams have more experience and coaches that know how to win.

As for senior leadership. Its doesnt have to be a senior. Miller has started the majority of his career and was even the SEC MVP tourny player last season. When he leaves Wiltjer and Hood will be there, plus Lamb, Jones or Teague will come back.

Even if they all o pro, talent is always better than experience. UK is the only school who is vying for a title every season.

absolutely i agree this isnt the popular opinion, but i think if that game is at nc they win. if its a neutral court who knows but as you know its hard for any team to go into rupp. i have to admit i have a man crush on kendall marshall i love watching the guy play, nobody in the country imo plays the point like him, unbelievable.

if jones comes back he is dumber than i though. teague or jones 1 of the 2 probably will stay but then again thats what most thought about cal's first team that atleast a couple would stay.

so then why doesnt uk have 3 consecutive national championships? they were hands down the most talented team the last 3 years so why didnt they win it all all 3 years? and as far as the only school competing thats bs, nc, duke, uconn, and kansas all have FAR more final four, elite 8's and national championships in the last decade than UK.

biased much?

Have you watched many UK games this season? Jones is under performing big time, he's not that good. I'd be shocked if Teague leaves, he has no strengths. He's not a good shooter like Knight was and he cant drive like Wall or Knight. We have no clue who's leaving, its always a surprise. Who would have guessed Liggins would leave but Jones would stay?

As for why doesnt UK have 3 titles; Having the best talent doesnt guarantee you a title, but learning from the past its obvious it makes you a solid contender to win it all (as long as you know how to develop it like Cal has done). Its inevitable that its going to happen. What people, and possibly you, dont realize is that winning titles takes a LOT of luck. Once you get past the sweet 16 the majority of the games are decided by one or 2 possessions, or one 3 pointer. Thats why its so rare to have all #1 seeds in the final four, luck plays a huge part and only 50% of the time does truly the best team win it all.

To sum it all up, talent over experience all day. Kansas, UNC, Duke and UConn are the ones winning titles almost every season and those are the ones that are getting the majority of the talent. Now that Cal is at UK, with his talent at developing great players its only a matter of time before they win it all. And they have a great chance this year.

unfortunately everyone of UK games seem to be on tv when im watching so yea ive seen quite a bit of their games. i absolutely agree about jones but the people that make the decisions done, he is a consensus top 12 pick and many have him as high as 8, he wont take another chance and come back. once again, i agree with you about teague, but it isnt up to me and you the guys making the choices have him as a consensus top 20 pick last i saw. the same thing goes for lamb he is considered a top 20 pick, and gilchrist in the newest drafts is top 5. so thats teague, lamb, gilchrist, jones, davis and miller going pro. i agree one guy may stay i am going to guess teague is that guy, lamb being a sophomore probably realizes his draft stock wont rise much higher so i see him going. i think out of all the guys teague has the most to gain by coming back, but with that said you never know when people start talking money. i do realize that there is some luck involved but i feel the great teams make it through the adversity. are you saying that poor UK is unlucky and uconn, duke, kansas and nc are just unfairly lucky? this teams dwarf what cal has accomplished in the last 10 years and they have done it with less talent. and by your theory of 50% of the time does the best team win, UK was the most talented the last 3 years 50% would be 1 1/2 they have 0, is this because they arent lucky like the other teams? talent plays a huge role dont get me wrong but i dont think the way he is doing it is the winning way. look at uconn, duke, kansas, and north carolina while they have talent they are very balanced juniors, sophomores, and freshmans, and usually a senior or two. this has been the common trend with all these teams, they dont do the 5 one and done guys like cal has had and i think in the end having the balanced more experienced team wins, and so far thats been proven. now calipari may go out and win one this year who the heck knows this is all JMO, but as i stated earlier in this thread Cal has done the least with the most talent out of all these schools.

How many games have been vacated under Calipari for cheating?
Can someone give me the facts, I have only heard rumors to that effect.

Right now its impossible to tell what works. Cal has only been at UK for 2 full seasons, and even the best college coach in the game (coach K) is only winning a title about once every 10 years. So for UK to be within reach both those years so far, I like the odds. Many of these examples of other teams winning multiple titles with seniors arent good examples. What other teams, besides UK, has that kind of talent? None. So to say "UK will never win a title the way Cal recruits" isnt very intelligent. As I said, for 2 reasons. 1) He's only been at UK for 2 seasons and came very close. And as difficult as it is to win a title, falling short twice isnt anything. 2) This is new, UK's talent is something new to college basketball. We're not sure if it works. IMO I like it, and think it does. I like the odds.

Yes, I do believe that the best team only wins the title about 50% of the time. If all the games were a 7 game series and you moved the 3 point line back, the best team would then win. But so many little po-dunk schools get hot and shoot 80% from 3 and beat teams like Kansas, its luck.

As for your comment about Cal doing the least with the most amount of talent: How can you say that? Roy Williams has a completely loaded team with McDonalds All Americans, that are even sophs and Juniors, and Cal has beaten him 3 out of 4 times (and UNC was in the NIT a few years ago). Getting freshman to learn the system and play as a team without arguments about playing time or transferring is incredible. If you think its so easy to just recruit and win look at your neighbor at Memphis.

I agree it may work we really don't know. You have your opinion and I have mine, I do feel that so far this year is uk best chance though. Yes cal has beaten Williams as he should, Williams starting 5 isn't all lottery picks. Cal has put more players into the NBA this decade than Williams, k, Calhoun or self yet is the only one with 1 elie 8, 1 final four and 0 championships. I'm sure NC fans will gladly take losing every season to UK if they go on to win the National championship.

As you said this style is new and what he's doing has frankly never been doing. Everyone has their own opinion and I'll be glad to admit I was wrong of he wins.

For you haters...

In both of these cases, Calipari was cleared by the NCAA of any wrongdoing. In fact, he was never even suspected of wrongdoing by the NCAA, because there was absolutely no evidence to suggest he had anything to do with it. In the case of Derrick Rose, the NCAA had actually investigated his test scores and cleared him to play, only to change their minds later.

He has had two final fours vacated, but was never "convicted" of any wrongdoing personally. He has people that do the dirty work for him with no paper trail IMO.
