And the search for dirt on Sarah Palin begins

That's my whole argument, Crap like this is going to get more scrutiny over the next couple of weeks and its stuff like this that will sink her. It makes McCain look like he made a unnecessary risky pick.

In the spirit of bipartisanship, I am going to be just as dismissive of left-wing criticism of McCain-Palin as the left is of conservative criticism of Obama-Biden.

Considering the Republicans went nuts claiming BO was a devout Muslim, I would say it's politics at it's best...

Can't trust anything these days.

I'm just really hoping they find some old nude photos of her. That might be the only dirt I can stand...
A swing and that one is outta here.

FOX News just reported that her 17yo daughter is pregnant.

EDIT: CNN confirms and reports that she will mary the father.

See what I mean -- politicians having to waste their time on dumb stories.

“Our people were not involved in any way in this and they will not be,” Mr. Obama snapped. “And if I ever thought there was somebody in my campaign that was involved in something like that, they’d be fired, OK?”

Mr. Obama said the pregnancy “has no relevance to Governor Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president.” He added that, “my mother had me when she was 18. How family deals with issues and teen-age children – that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics.”

“So,” he added, “I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories.”

there Obama goes again, throwing some more of his supporters under the bus.

Bill Bennett is about to go apoplectic on CNN right now over a live remote they just did.

Details please - what was the live remote?
They cut to a local reporter in Alaska. Wolf Blitzer asked a question unrelated to the whole pregnancy story and the reporter maneuvered her way into discussing Palin's daughter and then turned it into a discussion about how she spoke with a sex education advocacy group and this was just an example of why Palin's postion is wrong and that abstinence clearly doesn't work.

They cut back to the panel and Bill Bennett went nuts about how irresponsible it was that clear cut advocacy like that made it on the air at CNN.

The reason this is a problem is not because the daughter is pregnant. In terms of her being VP (or POTUS if necessary), its a minor issue. The problem is that one of two things is true. Either she did not tell them when she was being vetted, which is a shame on her kind of thing. Or, she did tell them and the decision to tag her as VP is highly suspect.

According to reports, a McCain adviser claims that they were told. Well, of course they are going to say that because if they say she didn't they sound like they are blaming her. I don't believe it because if that were the case then when they announced her as the pick the McCain camp would have reported that themselves to minimize criticism.

Seems to me most likely scenario is she did not tell them, they did not find out until afterwards, and now she is going to quietly find an exit.

Have to say overall this is poor commentary on McCain's staff. If I'm McCain, I'm freakin' furious.

You need to listen to BHO's take on this. He said this is a family issue and in no way should be brought into this campaign.
Now, we all know the Dems can not leave this alone.

Of course he is going to say that. And as I say the fact of the pregnancy is irrelevant to her ability to do the job. Its how this happened that just makes the ticket look like they don't know what in the hell they are doing.

That is if you are correct about JM not knowing about this before hand...and only Dems would accuse him of not telling the truth when he said she told him weeks ago.
The fact that you think this makes them look bad is just wishful thinking.
Are you saying that BHO coming out with the statement that he made is a lie. That he does not believe JM.

What is the McCain camp supposed to say? This is my VP and by the way, her daughter is knocked up. Vote for us.

You're probably right. Had they known, surely the intro would have gone something like this . . . . "Hello, here's my new running mate. By the way, here's her pregnant teenager. Yay Republicans!!!"

LG just can not give JM credit for waiting to announce this on a day when the entire nation is concerned about the UT/UCLA game...er...I mean the hurricane

Disagree completely. I'm amazed this is an issue.
