Anthony Grant - Alabama

No, there isn't. He knows that Hamilton is facing a firestorm of criticism. The "he has concerns about who is in charge" part means that he has concerns that Hamilton is no longer in charge, and he doesn't know who his boss would be if he took the job. Hence, the reason for a showing of support for Hamilton by Cheek.

clearly.

I feel like the part about hiring Grant that would excite me the most would be that we're just taking someone from Bama. Not sure that's a good thing.

Of course it's about the AD. He doesn't want to come into a job where the AD that hires him is getting ready to be forced out. That's not difficult to grasp.

Kiffin and his current situation could tell you all about that! Being unsure of your bosses loyalty is not a fun place to be.

I really think Frank will be an epic fail. He got fired from his NBA job for starting the season 0-16. I understand recruits wanting to play for a guy with NBA connections but this guy wasn't a good NBA coach. Maybe ya'll can enlighten me as to why he should be hired.

Doc Rivers went 24-58 in the 06-07 NBA season. The next year they won the NBA championship. He is considered one of the 5 best coaches in the NBA right now. Who you have playing for you has a lot to do with your record. The Nets haven't exactly been storming the NBA since Frank was fired...

Maybe grant is concerned of having his boss have a reputation for publically cutting his legs out from under him. Not the first time its occurred

If Grant doesn't have multiple losing seasons in a four-year span or lie to the NCAA he should be fine.

Yeah Doc Rivers, that would be a good hire. Great idea!

Maybe if Grant doesn't commit tons of Major Violations, he won't have to be concerned. Just a thought.

That justifies publically detracting from the team and players?

There are professional ways to handle these things. Mike Hamilton has not displayed that.

I don't think Grant is a proven coach either. One could make the argument that Grant won with Jeff Capel's players at VCU.

Didn't say it was a smart move but both ships were sinking, comments or no comments.

Plus if Hamilton does undercut you, you at least know a fat payout is coming your way.

The Hamilton discussion doesn't even make sense at this point. Wait until this summer when we have a coach. Tell prospective coaches whatever the hell you want until then. Then, figure out what to do with Hamilton once you have your coach.

You can always reassure your new coach that no AD will be hired that doesn't explicitly support HIM. In fact, it could be part of the hiring criteria. This isn't rocket science.

So Frank had more sucess than Cal?

Lawrence Frank took over the nets that Byron Scott built from crap to two time NBA finalists. Scott was leading his division, but he was not doing well enough for the leadership and they let him go.

Frank had a few good seasons with the core Scott created where they did not go as far as they had under Scott.

Then Frank supervised their demolition into one of the worst teams in basketball.

But he is friends with Hatvol. That should be good for at least 10 wins right?

I didn't know Lawrence Frank was the GM of the Nets.

Oh, that's right. He wasn't.

And speaking of Byron Scott, he's doing real well in Cleveland right now, isn't he?

The triumphant return.
