Antonio Barton is coming to UT

RT @BFQuinn So Antonio Barton is apparently heading to Tennessee, per his brother's Twitter account. #socialmediasources

Oh the irony of this tweet. On top of the fact he's 2 hours late.

Ferris Bueller must have taken another day off.

Possibly changes the complexion of the season.

Barton might cost us a little offensively (that is offset thanks to Maymon), but we get an even better 3 point shooter. That helps spread the offense for Stokes/Maymon. You can't double team Stokes/Maymon with Hubbs/McRae/Barton on the floor.

Also, Barton is very aggressive on defense. Our defensive has struggled because we just could not put pressure on the point guard. Barton can do that. It's going to help our D even more.

I agree if we can shut down teams taking it to the left and down the left side of the lane it will pay big dividends.

My D needs all the help it can get...

I'm not sure Barton fixes everything.

Ball-handling/turnovers will still be a major weakness.

But, maybe Barton will bring more consistency.

We got thrown a couple of curve balls on this one but we didn't strike out.
Very glad to have this player he will help us win.

I still wouldn't mind having Johnson. I'm sure CCM can find a spot for him. You can never have enough shooters.

Barton could easily prove to be the key transition player that takes the program to the next level. They just need dependable, consistent play with solid D at the PG position to get them over the hump.

Well done, Zo & staff. Now coach them up.

I continually asked if the team was better with Barton or Golden...looks like we will get to find out. I'm very excited for next season, great get by Zo!

Great pickup. Hope this puts us back in everyone's top 25. Preseason polls are meaningless, unless you haven't been included in one in a while...

We'll get Barton's best yet.
Wants to follow Will into the NBA.
His past coaches say we haven't seen his full potential.

Feels great to be looking forward to all 3 major sports at UT this next season. Lady Vols with Mercedes Russell & others coming in, Men's BB with Barton, Hubbs, & Maymon, and of course Football with CBJ & the great recruiting job he & his staff are doing. GBO!!!

First off, he said he has one class to finish up in June in order to graduate, so he expects to be here and enroll in summer school in July.

As for picking Tennessee today, he not surprisingly pointed to the fact that he feels like the Vols have a team that is set up to win immediately but have a real obvious need at point guard. He added that one of the biggest things that influenced him was Tennessee's players, citing numerous texts from McRae and Maymon among others, urging him to team up with them in Knoxville for a year.

As for picking Tennessee over Maryland, Texas A&M and Syracuse despite the fact that he didn't make an official visit to Knoxville, Barton said he trusted his instincts and trusted the vibe he had gotten from Counzo Martin. He added that Martin visited with his mother and made a big impression on her to the point that she was very comfortable with the situation in Knoxville. Barton also said that having played against Tennessee three times in the past two seasons helped give him an idea of what playing for Martin would have been like, stating that it was easy to see that Martin valued hard-nosed, tough players, which Barton definitely considers himself to be.

Notice the bold...I'm guessing Barton told Lewis he visited but Lewis didn't wanna look like a jacka$$ so he said he never OFFICIALLY visited.

I think Barton is the type to be much more vocal at point than trae was...at traes best trae is clearly better, but when he was bad we were bad. I think we will get much more consistency from Barton and that in turn will make us a much more consistent team.

As others have touched on, I'm glad Thompson will not be thrown to the wolves, ideal situation for him IMO.

Wow! I'm absolutely shocked that this happened. Coach Martin should have no excuse for not making the NCAA tournament this year with his line-up.
