Apple event 9/9 1:00pm

Ill never understand the iphone fans...I had an iPhone 4 for maybe 3 months...the lock button broke, it was too small (I was used to a galaxy) and you can hardly customize anything. Anyway...not trying to start a debate or hijack this thread...

I always find the customization feature a funny one when Android fanboys bring it up.

I read a quote the other day from an HTC exec on widgets and customization. They said something like 85% of users don't bother with altering the stock settings and less than 5% do any customizations after first week of owning a new device.

I know its anecdotal but I once had a friend tell me how he liked to that he could customize his phone. I asked how exactly and he said "well i can.... Uhh.... Ok I don't really customize it at all". He switched to iPhone last year.

I use to customize a lot of stuff when I would jailbreak but now it's just kinda mehh. I change the carrier logo to the power T & like 5 icon dock but that's about all I do as far as aesthetics go anymore.

I can't start a new thread, so I'm posting this here...

I originally had a ship date from AT&T of 10/13-10/31. Then earlier this week they changed it to 9/23-10/2.

Now.....I received shipping info and it's scheduled to be here Friday!!!!!!!

Im not a fanboy. Ive had an iphone and an android. To me the iPhone felt outdated and cheap and didnt do half the cool stuff my droid could do. Just dont get all the sheep flocking to them because thats what everyone else has...

Just curious but could you give some details? What made it feel cheap compared to a plastic phone? What cool stuff? People "flock" to Apple & it's not because "everyone else does". They make a quality product & have probably the best support there is. All of their devices work together seamlessly. The blind hate is as funny as the "fanboism".

Hipster fanboy phone guy. Gets an android because all the other sheep like the iPhone.

Whatever. The iPhone works for me. I know folks who hate apple and others hate android. Chevy-ford crap. Whatever. Just stick with yours and I'll stick with mine. Quit crying about it.

Just an update for people that preordered in an ATT store on the first day. It seems the 6 Plus is on backorder for everyone. Unless you preordered it online when it was first available you probably won't get your phone until mid October- November. This is only for the Plus is what we're seeing. If you have tracking info you should be fine. Just a heads up.

I just got the Verus Iron Shield. Good looking case with solid protection. I'm not a fan of the giant otterbox type cases. Doesn't make sense to have a thin phone and then put a giant box on it.

I'm not a fan of life proof cases

Why?

Are you accident prone as in getting your phone wet or like taking pics under water up to about 6ft deep?

Not accident prone, but very paranoid about protecting my headphone jack and other ports. I had a previous iPhone that was NEVER dropped in water, never sat in water, etc. When it started acting up, I took it to the Apple store and they said the water sensor in the dead center of the device had been "triggered". How in the WORLD had it tripped?

Therefore, I worry and would like something that covers everything...

Any other ideas?

I've had both, and feel the exact opposite. I was a big Android user. I rooted my phones, and flashed ROMs weekly. It was a geek paradise for awhile customizing everything until it just became boring to me. I always had small issues with things, and not rooting it left me with an ugly OS and bloatware. I switch to iPhone when the 4s came out, and never looked back (posting this from a 5s). While Android phones have made several improvements (the new HTC phones look nice), the OS just cheapens it to me. Plus objectively the Apple ecosystem is superior. In the last couple of years I have invested in AppleTVs, MacBook Air, iPad, AirPlay speakers, and an Apple Airport Extreme. All of these work flawless together in a way the fragmentation of Android will not allow.

Of course this is all subjective (outside of the ecosystem) like your thoughts on this subject. You say you are not a fanboy, but you are coming across as a flag bearer for Android fanboyism. People who start with "I'm not a..." usually are what they are claiming not to be. No one is currently worse than Android fanboys. I can't read a single article about Apple without them planting their Android flag.

Sheep? Wow because someone prefers a product of one company they are sheep? I think you need to look in the mirror and think about who truly is a sheep, because I am a wolf who buys what I think is the best for me.

Sounds like a lifeproof would be for you. It definitely covers all the ports. It isn't extremely shock resistant but it offers some. I would opt for the nuud vs the fre. That built in screen protector never sits flush & that bubble is annoying.

I always get AppleCare+ on my phones, and go naked or use a very slim case. The Apple Store in Knoxville has always been great to me. I never had an issue getting an iPhone replaced with a new one (I have 5 lines with 5 iPhones and had 3 of them replaced with new ones over the last 4 years). Plus they have replaced my headphones for free when they short out, because I have AppleCare+. I haven't ran into the water issue, but that sucks.

Edit: Also I never use a screen protector. As long as you don't put keys anywhere near your iPhone you should be good (I made this mistake once). Since I'm waiting for the 6s to upgrade I hope the rumors of a sapphire screen are true.

I do agree the 4s, while it was a beautiful designed phone, was too small. Of course I was coming from a 4.5 inch Android phone at the time. I am very happy with the size of the 5/5s, and I think I would be happy with the 6, but I have no desire for the 6+.

Have any of you tried a LifeProof case? If so, did you like it?

My wife got talked into a life proof case to my dismay and the thing started coming apart within a years time. There is a little yellow sponge that seals the charging port which easily falls out and gets lost if you aren't paying attention (saw that happen to a friend of mine too). Then the rubber sides started peeling back. I probably could have called in the warranty but it was more hassle than it was worth. For $95 a case should last a few years and not be falling apart within 8 months.

Not to mention it muffles the mic on speaker phone, blurs the screen somewhat, and reduces picture quality.

Not worth the money iyam.

My life proof didnt last a month. I love my Otter Box case. I'm not worried about waterproof. I throw it in a sandwhich bag if I know it's gonna be crappy out.

I had ordered the spigen neo hybrid metal, but cancelled because while they make a great product, they have horrible shipping and customer service. Ended up ordering verus iron shield which is very similar

I order my tough armor for my 5s off of amazon when the 5s debuted and had it before the phone. I love it, I'll be getting another one regardless of what phone I buy
