Are you pulling for any of the remaining teams...

Can't play 'em all at home. And if we need to reason our way out of a game we don't need to be there in the first place. I get the brackets were jacked around and didn't make sense, but doesn't negate the fact we looked homeless in that game regardless of where it was played. And without proof otherwise, you can't tell me we would have done better against IU or anyone else since the only facts we have are how we played in that game. It wasn't UT's job to say the brackets weren't right and we should have had an easier road. It was UT's job to take the circumstances and prepare accordingly. Period. Geez even Saban Bama has been shellacked in playoff games before. It does happen. Quite often. More post season games are lopsided than good games.

We were 10-3 with wins in the same season against Bama & FLA which is an achilles heel for UT. And we had a playoff berth in a game we supplied plenty of pre-game fan fuel. There's only been 2 decent playoff games thus far. What's the downside?
Day light road games on fast fields helps the Vols. Some of our more mouthy fans helped Ohio State get jacked sky high for that win. I have been criticized for blaming the weather but, it was a factor.

We are still on Uncle Lou's mocking "we're back" list. Had we won a single playoff game, we are off the list. I wanted to get off that list. Plus winning a playoff game would have been nice in general.

I made a thread about it after the loss and the fans just backlashed against me on here. We can be our worse enemies. Fans talking smack didn't help with 2022 Georgia as well, IMO. Georgia came keyed up more because of the fan talk.

Weather can and has been a factor in games. Can't deny weather completely. I think it's over played as even most northern games are mild to normal except the last couple maybe. More of a factor on benefitting the southern baseball season than northern football. I would think it more a challenge for nothern teams to play football down south in the heat maybe. That game would have been close in temp even if played in Knoxville that day. But, weather shouldn't have led to a beat down. There was a point in that game when one has to realize we just didn't do a good job getting prepared. I'd be more willing to accept we had too many of the wrong guys on the sideline in the 2nd half to do anything with the traction we gained going into half-time. We definitely added plenty of fuel to the dumpster fire of their UM loss.

It was our first trip to a playoff game since '98 except for the '01 mishap in the SEC against LSU. Now, that was embarassing. I was at that game with a BIL who provided free tickets and is a LSU homer. He was running up and down the steps the entire 2nd half. If CJH's first 4 years are any indication, we will go back more than this once. It wasn't like he inherited Mark Richt's leftovers. CJH took on a very tough job and has done well.

I agree with that. I will say that Fulmer's 1993, 1995, 1997, and 1999 teams would all have been in a 12-team playoff as well. Arguably the 1996 team also.

Fulmer inherited a better situation with Majors. Heupel should be more compared with Johnnie Majors on what he took over (or Jones/Pruitt who both inherited messes but failed to dig us out of them).

This is why a logical mind is superior to an emotional one. Anyone rooting against our conference when conference prestige is critical to a sport based on humans ranking teams like college football is insane. If college football was formatted like the NFL where everyone played a similar schedule and where playoff position was determined by your place in conference rankings then sure I'd be all in on the screw other SEC teams bandwagon. But whether yall like it or not in college football our position in the playoff rankings each year will be greatly influenced by how the SEC is perceived. If the SEC is no longer considered the best conference in the country because SEC teams keep losing in the postseason then it'll effect how many teams get in to the playoffs from the SEC.

Do yall really wanna live in a world where the SEC is viewed like the Big 12 or ACC where we basically have to win the conference or get to the title game to make a 12 team playoff? Cause that's what will happen if the SEC teams lose in the postseason to other conferences. Tennessee at 10-2 will start getting treated like Miami where instead of 10-2 getting you in easily will instead have us on the outside looking in as 9-3 Big 10 teams have position over us when it comes to making the playoffs.

That's the consequence of wanting other SEC teams to lose in games against other conferences. It'll eventually hurt Tennessee.
FSU won it all in 2000 in a conference that was horrible. I don't buy that SEC brotherhood BS. I pull against all other SEC teams (except Auburn) in OOC games and do so proudly, without hesitation.

Spoken like a woman. All emotion no logic.
The logic is I hate UGA and I hope they never win another game in their entire existence. If they received the NCAA death penalty tomorrow and had to fold up their program, I would literally jump for joy. F that program. Same for that trash college in Gainesville.

Ditto, and that goes for UAT as well. They should have been shut down for the Albert Means fiasco.

Ohio State looks pretty damn good when they are opening up their offense. I was really hoping Oregon would have beaten Ohio State, and gone on to beat everyone else. Mainly because I don't hate Oregon and pretty much hate everyone else that is left (Ohio State, Penn State, UGA, Notre Dame).

CJH took over a program in a mess to the depths most won't understand, including myself. The entire AD and University leadership was in shambles for quite some time. It wasn't just a football thing. It was an everything thing that affected everything.

Most folks in here only see we got blown out in a post season game, which has happened to us before with far more capable rosters. Most don't get that CJH has took this program over in the condition it was in and has had us in post-season play all 4 of his seasons here thus far. Including post-seasons he has had this team at 7-6, 11-2, 8-4, 10-3. We're 2-2 in those post season games with wins over a #7 and #17 team in those games. And we have finished Top 25 in 3 of his 4 seasons. That's a heck of a feat. With all the complaining and crying wolf in here, you'd think we have been winless under CJH. All this being done while still on reduced scholly's from Pruitt's mess.

That’s the difference between the BIG and SEC. They are so sick of us beating them, that BIGers pull for each other. I lived in WI and would be “reminded” any time a BIG team beat an SEC school . It would throw them off when I’d counter with “Awesome! I can’t stand those ba$tards”.

I am pulling for any team that plays UGA. I also hope Texas loses, but not nearly as much as I want to see UGA lose. I hope Notre Dame beats them by 3 TDs.
Hard for me to pull against UGA, though UT is my team of choice since 1979 when they signed Willie Gault from my HS. I was 4 years behind him. My grandparents lived in Knoxville, and my grandpa would cut out and save any and every article about Gault during that time to read when we came to visit. That began my fascination with everything Vol football. I was a Gault fanatic more so for his track prowess than football. He was amazing to watch when he was sprinting. I wanted to be that fast. 4.6 was the best I could do.

In reality, my dad was a TnTech, UT, and UGA grad. Getting his PhD in Ag from UGA and returning after a year of employment in Berea, KY to remain employed with UGA Experiment Stations as a plant scientist until his retirement. THey provided him the opportunity professionally to travel the world and serve poor countries teaching them how to grow peanuts and food to feed their people in various climates and conditions. UGA provided the life he gave us. Can't hate on that. I don't really hate on any of them, though there are some like ND I just get tired of hearing the media adoration for. But, even Freeman deserves props for what he is doing there regardless. I do pull for LSU if UT is not involved because of my wife. But, I think CBK was a bad choice overall for them. I'm too old to hate any college football team in general. But, the current landscape makes it less enjoyable to watch overall. TX/ASU was a really good game and TX earned that win. I do still enjoy watching the lower levels play for the love of the game and school. Most of them will never sniff a draft board and they just play football.

Why do u not want the SEC to do good, do you BIG schools going around saying they’re are better and making fun of SEC? I don’t

Because I hate every other team in the SEC, and UGA and Texas are primarily our main competition for recruits. Sure, we compete with B1G for recruits too, but not nearly as often.

I don't really care what B1G schools and their fans say about the SEC. The SEC record since the BCS era started speaks for itself. They can talk all they want as far as I'm concerned because it falls on deaf ears.
