Arkansas rumors

Prattville football dropped off this year with a new coach...but before that these kids put on one heck of a show.

Yeah I just read up on it too. Well who knows, I guess we will find out soon. Arkansas is supposed to name their coach this weekend. The only bad thing about all this coach talk is all the rumors, you never know what to believe but hell thats half the fun of it too.

Supposedly his son has enrolled at the UofA as well. I guess we will see this weekend. I really don't see Gruden picking Arkansas over Tennessee. He has ties to the Knoxville area, Graduate Assistant here in the 80's, his wife Cindy, and UT is a school full of much more tradition and history. Make the right decision Chuckey.

Seriously?

Wish a Vol fan came up with the Grudenville idea. Just to be honest.

I'm happy with VN.

Duckman has admitted that he is going to change the name after the hire and use it as a rival site to Hogville. He used the site to steal their fans and make it the new Arkansas forum just because he's unhappy with the mods at Hogville. Seems pretty petty and pathetic imo.

It just doesn't make sense. If Gruden wanted to come coach college, then Tennessee would be the only one he'd consider. He has no ties whatsoever at Arkansas and no disrespect to them, but it's not like they're a top school that coaches are begging to go to. These must be the most delusional fans in the world. If Gruden is not the HC for Tennessee, then he'll either stay at ESPN or join the NFL once again.

AR Kansas has more money and is the only major school in their state. Like TN Ark isn't a hot bed for talent but he'd get what the state had to offer, plus he's as close to TNs best talent, Memphis. I don't think Gruden will coach any college team but if he did it would be easier to recruit to Ark than it will be to UT, geography wise. If Kelly leaves Oregon he might jump at that job, a lot of talent already on the roster.

I've seen some state unequivocally that, with the Gruden hire, UT would win the SEC within 3 seasons. This is where a fanbase causes trouble for the program with unreasonable claims and expectations. Gruden has never HC'd a down of college football. Some pro success doesn't automatically translate. Just ask Bill Walsh, Al Groh, Jerry Glanville, Bill Callahan, et al. He might come to UT and he might be a great CHC. But then again he might not. He has a .540 HC'ing lifetime win %, and was fired from his most previous job after posting 4-12, 9-7, 9-7 seasons. That's not exactly proven, IHMO.

I have lived in Georgia since 1990 and to be fair, the Dawg fan base has been as guilty of preseason chest thumping than anybody. Seems hypocrytical to have a Dawg fan accusing anyone of being delusional. I admit you have had more success than us lately but not nearly to the level that you expected over the years.

Why do Arkansas fans think they have any chance at Gruden?

Really a very simple formula.......

WallyWorld $$$ + Chicken $$$$ = MUCH MUCH more than OIL $$$

This reminds me of Ross Perot swinging a stick at a board with the state of Arkansas and a large chicken in the middle saying "chicken, chicken chicken". In response to bill clinton's claim of jobs created while clinton was governor.

Arkansas rumors surfacing today that suggest a press conference Saturday announcing Gruden to them. Many different posters feel that it's a done deal.

They have been claiming a press conference would happen several times. The problem is, they keep saying when, but they never happen.

I don't blame them for swinging for the fences. It will at least show the fans that they "tried" to land Gruden.

In the end, I think they end up with a guy like Art Briles or Sonny Dykes.

Let's tamper this one down before the yokels in the South's Armpit actually gain traction with this nonsense:

Arkansas, much like UT, is a public research institution. Being a land grant university means it has to comply with some serious transparency rules. AD's don't because they're private, but the schools most certainly do.

Thus, finite facts like enrollments are open knowledge for anyone who inquires. Right now on the UT website, you can do a simple search through the Student directory and find every enrolled and accepted student on it's roster.

Likewise, you can call the registrar and find out similar info, regardless of relation to the young adult... as it's not sensitive material.

Long story short, it's remarkably easy to verify this story. You don't need to be Woodward and Bernstein.

If Gruden's son was actually enrolled in ARK, the first reporter to firmly break that story would be a legend... If he was a beat writer, he'd get national cred and likely a national job. If he's a national writer, he'd get a firm raise. It'd be a massive story to break.

And yet, no reporter has found anything to substantiate this nonsensical claims, even though it'd be remarkably easy to do so. So either the college media world is completely ignoring this story -- it's not, btw -- or they've looked into and found nothing.

Nice try Arkansas, now go back to being Arkansas.

I started to roll my eyes and move on, but those guys are actually pretty talented and put a lot of time into that clip. Props to them for the work.

I still can't get over the thought of my war cry being "Woo pig!"

GBO!
