Does Arkansas have bill gates as a donor? They act like they are the wealthiest school I'm college football.

They have better then Bill Gates. Yes Gates is the richest person in America with about 66 billion but Arkansas could draw from any of the Waltons which sit at 6, 7, 8 and 9 with a combined wealth of over 100 billion. A couple of those Waltons are huge Hog fans. I'd say it's just a matter of how much they feel is necessary to spend without catching hell from everyone that doesn't care about football. They also have Tyson chicken which I understand is a big donor. For comparison Jimmy Haslam is at 360 with 1.2 billion (Jim wasn't on the list). I'm sure the Haslams are wealthier then that but that's what's on paper atm. I wonder if the NCAA won't step in and try to cap coaching salaries at some point to maintain a level playing field? Not sure if that's legal but the NCAA seems to be able to do whatever they want to.

....and yet they keep recruiting poorly.... makes you wonder how they can have that sort of support and do so badly.

"Pretty sure most of the tenner rumors were started by ark media as a smoke screen for what we have known since april....its been obvious and between ppl not believing we can get abother big fish and ppl not convinced gruden can't get the job done have washed each other out....he has been in the bag for awhile, a long while....the one holdback is a major booster was endorsing butch bigtime after he was cleared...stated he would donate up to half of butchs salary if we hired him....everyone else liked butch too but knew where they stood with grude and wanted to get him....they have been in negotions trying to bring davis on board to be DC....if this has been sucessful then whoa nelly we r in for a bright future....I've never been happier to be a hog fan"

it is very much about logistics. The fertile recruiting grounds of Florida, Georgia and Alabama are an 8 to 15 hour drive from Fayetteville. Long drive home to see momma not to mention Arky has less than 3 million total population so not alot of instate talent.

With all that being said, Petrino didnt need alot of highly ranked kids to finish out with a final season ranking of top 10 in 2010 and top 5 in 2011.

I'd be lying if I said this sort of stuff actually scares me. It seems we've got most, if not all, of our insiders telling us we got Gruden. I haven't really read their boards much, but it seems they have some insiders who are similarly POSITIVE that they have Gruden as well. One of us is massively wrong about all of this...

Are you telling us that you know, for a fact, that the Walton family makes significant financial contributions to the Arkansas Athletic program?

Iv got a feeling he won't be the coach at UT. I don't think he will be the coach at Arkansas either. I'm just tired of this. Seems like stoops, and mora are the 2nd and 3rd options which is still a 100% better then what we had. It's all good.

Arkansas VN wants James Franklin if they cant get Gruden.
(90% of the board agrees that Franklin is there 2nd choice.)

Franklin is going to be a really good coach in years to come. Can't stand the guy and wouldn't want him here right now, but they could do worse I guess.

Yeah, but think about it...arky is used to getting beat by Tenn. This will be, just another chapter.
