I for one am sorry to see him leave. When he got a chance he made some pretty big plays. I think he would have been special for us after Darick, Hunter, and Patterson left.
I don't think he handled his transfer well, but he's just a kid. I don't think you can expect everyone to have a public relations team on their side. I hope he does well at M-State, unless we play them of course.
Now you see, HERE is a post I can stand behind.
He gave you all he had last year. He had personal issues all year and I believe that inadvertently caused a few problems with team chemistry as well. He came from a rough place, with some family issues and I dont think any of us can truly understand.
I dont like the way it went down either. It is a shame that either side had to be treated that way. I think he wanted to leave with good memories, and be able to look back fondly on his year as a Vol. That didnt happen and he has to shoulder some of the blame.
And, while I understand the UT stance on the transfer issue, they didnt exactly handle it like a well oiled PR machine either.
The biggest part to me is, this is the chance you take when you recruit nationally. Some kids thrive when they are away from home, some kids dont. That doesnt make them less of a person, and it doesnt mean they tried any less. The kid gave you all he had, and his circumstances just wouldnt allow him to stay.
I wish the kid well. I wish he had stayed here, because I enjoyed watching him here. And whether you want to admit it or not, the kid would have been a solid contributor this year, and a star in the future.
It is what it is, and thats just the way it is.
