I don’t think Dabo is a good fit in Tuscaloosa. I think he’s too thin skinned. He has too good of a deal at Clemson. I could see Lane there if he had Saban’s blessing.I could see Dabo Swinney or Lane Kiffin go to Alabama while Dave Doeren or Dave Clawson go to Auburn.
I wonder if Lance Leipold would leave Kansas to go to Auburn?I don’t think Dabo is a good fit in Tuscaloosa. I think he’s too thin skinned. He has too good of a deal at Clemson. I could see Lane there if he had Saban’s blessing.
I honestly think Auburn basically just fired Dave Doeren, Dave Clawson and Mark Stoops. They need some juice, some excitement to bring down there. I think Kiffin or Freeze would do that. I also think that even though Matt Rhule isn’t the flashy hire I described, he has a proven track record in college of turning programs around.

Is the culture really slipping, or are former players just embarrassed that they've dropped a couple regular season games for only the second time in 12 years?I hope you are right. Haven't seen enough of Dabo to know. But, there is an underground coup ongoing...

When?
Maybe, but, I mean, they don't know. They aren't around the program every day. It is easy to look at a team that isn't playing as well as expected and make these sweeping statements about the culture of the program.Saban is past age 70 and currently has two horrific coordinators. They are only three plays away from having five losses.
Overall, I can see their point of view. The culture is slipping from the lofty standards of a decade ago.

They are 3 plays away from having 5 losses, but they're also just a couple plays away from being undefeated. If Gibbs catches the pass over the middle on their last drive against us, Reichard has a much more makeable FG. If they stop LSU's 2-point play, they win that game. I guarantee you if they won one or both of those games, nobody is talking about a "culture problem."
Yes, maybe. Maybe there is a cultural problem, maybe there isn't.Maybe?
The bammer people I work with are simply unhappy that they were even in five close games during one season.
They are accustom to having ten blowouts. A mighty spoiled group indeed.
Would not want to be the coach that follows Nicky.

Honestly, I think they are just shocked that they have played in this many close games and are looking for deep, philosophical, internal reasons instead of the most plausible one, which is they've simply dropped a couple of games to 2 other teams who are pretty good. I know they are used to Tennessee being bad, but it isn't like they dropped a game to a 6-6 Tennessee team. It's the #1 offense in the country and the best team we've had since probably 1998.
Their problem is that they don’t have first round skill guys on the outside and in the slot. Their wideouts do not scare anyone, and because they have an amazing QB they have kept throwing the ball instead of pounding people like they used to . Gibbs is the best back in the SEC, maybe the country. 10 years ago he wins the Heisman. They should Control the clock and let your D do what it does, or used to do. This is a coaching issue and an identity issue IMO. This has been Saban’s worst coaching job and they very easily could be undefeated.Yes, maybe. Maybe there is a cultural problem, maybe there isn't.

Gibbs has had a really nice year, but it doesn't seem like they've gotten out of him what they need to. As you said they don't have any WRs that scare people, but they do have a QB that scares the daylights out of people and a super talented RB. Gibbs didn't even become their feature back until the Arkansas game.Their problem is that they don’t have first round skill guys on the outside and in the slot. If you do player comps, I see Young as a 5’11” Mahomes type and Gibbs as a Kamara type player. Gibbs feet are ridiculous. I think we brought a safety blitz off the edge and he should’ve been dead to rights. He took the handoff and simultaneously juked our guy and took off. I haven’t seen anyone do that all year. He should’ve been the feature guy from day 1. That’s why I say that this has been a failed year in coaching for Saban. It’s BOB calling the plays, but it’s still CNS’s team.Gibbs has had a really nice year, but it doesn't seem like they've gotten out of him what they need to.
