Auburn/Cam Newton situation (merged)

i dont see how the NCAA could ever prove anything happened, because the Newtons are gonna talk and obviously AU isnt either. im assuming the church payment has been cleared.

TMZ reported that the FBI has requested a meeting with Bond.

Bureau involvement would accelerate this investigation in a hurry.

The church payment hasn't been cleared because Cecil can't make his mind up on what happened.

He's told 2 different stories on that alone.

But let's not pretend that Newton doesn't have anything to lose.

He was on his way to becoming a first round pick, imo, jmho, fwiw.

Now, with the academic fraud at Florida surfacing, the issue with the laptop, and now the allegations of selling his commitment for a coupla hunda gs, he probably drops to the 4th or 5th round on character concerns alone. That 200k could cost him 20 million.

That's right. Because of the High & Mighty Morals of the NFL the Vick kid will never play football again!!
Cam will never be drafted!

did you actually read what he posted? he said the Newton would fall in the draft.

yes, i forgot to put in my sarcasm symbols.
gee i'm very sorry.
i realize that this is a very serious charge and a very serious thread and we shouldn't make light of it.
i am very ashamed of myself........again.

What would the FBIs involvement be? Would they be the front runner for the IRS?
I would think there would be a tax issue with running a payment through a non-profit entity. Possible money laundering issues also. I hate to be the one to go here, but some or the most squirrely transactions you'll ever see involve churches without adequate financial oversight controls in place.

Not that I recall. I have also never heard so many fall all over themselves to call a kid a great kid when he clearly isn't.

Not sure.

Money laundering? Improper contact between a player agent and student athlete? Violations of SPARTA or UAAA?

Ah, makes sense. I had heard that the AA would wait on IRS info (if they get involved to track the money trail, if it was not turned over voluntarily) The FBI part was throwing me off. I see that angle now.

If they are both investigating, this could get bad.

what were the two stories? not doubting. i just haven't heard.

Cecil Newton said Cam's brother (who was on the Jacksonville practice squad and on the active roster for a game or two) paid for the renovations.

He then said the work was donated by a construction company.

Was this the construction company that is owned by an Auburn Booster?
