Auburn/Cam Newton situation (merged)

So did USC know in their situation, but Auburn didnt know in this one??

I'm just trying to rationalize this out, which is difficult.

I'm not entirely sure USC should have been slammed so hard, but I'm also not entirely sure they had no idea it was going on, just the same as I don't know if Auburn knew.

It's all good. I'm sure Cam is telling the truth about not knowing. He's a good christian kid.

This is all a case of the devil messin' when God be blessin'.

This is absolute garbage. I hope someone breaks Newtons leg....

Now that's real classy. What is it to you anyway? Cam just beat bammer and for that I take my hat off to him. He may be the best player we've ever seen-----I say let's enjoy watching him finish it out. Are you related to Danny Ford? Newbies won't get that one.

It is a bit confusing, but since I think the rules are dumb in the first place I don't really care. Players should get paid. They are being exploited. They have no evidence that Newton's Father received money or benefit. I'm sure they would have deemed him ineligible had it gone that far (or had there been proof it went that far).

Its not like they are getting a free education.

Those damn taxmasters

Do you like kids who cheat and lie?

From what I understand, the 'AA ruled sCam ineligible yesterday and reinstated him today. Maybe it was Monday/Tuesday but regardless, the 'AA seems to be showing favortism as well. But again, we're dealing with a picture taken of a jr recruit and we're still bring hammered for that.

Auburn rules him ineligible and then the AA reinstated him.

I don't know if Auburn's at fault, but Newton should still be ineligible.

Slive said he thought Auburn and Miss States actions were appropriate. What did Auburn do? They didn't do crap. Slive is happy that they are still unbeaten and going to be in the NC game with a win over SC. I knew this was going to open up a can of worms. The ncaa is going to have to refine the rule book on this one. There is no way he didn't know his dad was shopping him around. All of the sudden his dad starts pressuring him to go to Auburn and his church gets renovated, and he picks out a new 60K dollar truck. Give me a break. He knew exactly what was going on. His dad should be ashamed to call himself a pastor.

To quote Nick Saban, "how is he any better than a pimp?"

I can't live with another SEC national champ, even worse a team and fanbase as gay as Auburn....Suspend him.

lol. Poor Auburn, this is the big shot for them. The whole world hates them.

Truth is, they have been lucky to get this far unbeaten, and that is exactly what you need to make it all the way.

I want to see the Oregon Auburn game personally.

Due to today's ruling I would say a defifite NO.

No recording, just a quote. LINK

"After Newton committed to Auburn, another source said an emotional Cam Newton phoned another recruiter to express regret that he wouldn't be going to Mississippi State, stating that his father, Cecil, had chosen Auburn for him because "the money was too much.""

So anyone that ever wants to play for pay in college can just get a family member to ask for money and play ignorant and the NCAA will let them play.

I don't agree with this ruling, but that is not what it says.

The key here is that Auburn and Cam "didn't know" that Daddy asked Miss St for $.

The loophole this ruling really opens up is this situation:

Daddy can go to smaller school and say, pay me or my son is going to go to a powerhouse school for free.

If the smaller school tells him to go to hell and the kid actually does go to the powerhouse for free, and the powerhouse and the kid were clueless about the whole thing, then the kid can keep playing for the powerhouse.

Now that is messed up, but the loophole is not nearly as big as some of you are making it out to be. If Daddy receives benefits from boosters associated with the school the kid is playing for, the kid can't play and the school is in trouble.

WHO?:)-------Actually. I haven't met any other kind; lately.

Thing is, everyone can believe what they want. There is no absolute PROOF.

This entire saga has had NO DIRECT EFFECT ON TENNESSEE. Why is everyone up in arms?

It is time for that source to speak up.
