Auburn/Cam Newton situation (merged)

I know. Just my feelings at the moment. Hate watching CBS film him getting off the bus, and all those Auburn fans wearing fake orange (why do they do this??) cheering him on like he is some sort of hero when he shouldn't be allowed to experience any of it.

Top players are getting extras at all major schools. Been that way forever. Yes, at Tennessee, too. Schools just have to be creative. Based on your assumptions, the top 150 in Rivals would not be eligible.

In my experience they are not. Auburn is like Islam. It was founded for people without an identity who were promised a home. Auburn fans prostituted their identity.

As I told my in-laws who sat shocked as I cheered for Bama last Friday -

"I may hate Bama, but I respect them. I have no respect for Auburn."

I have no idea what this means, but it sounds a bit insensitive.

All Auburn fans are rejects in their home state. They come from Bama, Tenn, and Georgia. They couldn't find a home in the state school, so they adopted a hodge-podge school that isn't sure who they mascot is, will never have real prominence, bounces around on tradition, and pays their way for success.

Honestly I'm just glad I get to see Newton play 2 more games. I wish we had got to see him for 3 years. I don't give a damn about the NCAA and eligibility. I like watching good football.

Every mom and dad is going to show up at the schools wanting cash now, watch. This is so going to be fun to watch.

And we'd better be ready for this. If you can excuse me for a second, I got to go and plan my "Tennessee Brotherly Love Christian Fellowship". We are not associated with UT or UTAD in any means, and our goal is to help establish the fraternal relationships between football recruits and current players, as well as get our recruits familiar with our campus and surroundings.

Two immediate steps come to mind:

First, spread the word around the campus, especially in the locker room. Tell the recruits, if you need cash, come to us. But not you personally, your mom and dad, uncles, buddies etc. the people you authorize. We need to check their written authorization, but we will make sure to burn it down afterwords. Please, only one authorized individual per recruit. Give us a number, $50,000, $100,000, $200,000 or whatever, and we will go from there.

Remember, if people ever asked, let them know you have never heard of us.

Second, we accept donations, cash only, no check, no receipt. Boosters, we will come to your houses soon, and your support is vital to our survival and will be greatly appreciated, because we are all striving to make Tennessee the HOME for our recruits!

Go Vols! :loco:

Andre Smith sat out the '09 Sugar Bowl because a family member had contact with an agent without Smith's knowledge.

Can some tell me the difference between that situation and the one the NCAA just admitted re: Cam Newton?

If I remember correctly, Smith was not ruled ineligible by the NCAA. Bama suspended him on their own.

RT @aglock: Bruce Pearl should have just had Aaron Craft's dad ask him for $200K instead of a hamburger. :) #NCAArulings

It seems pretty simple to me. Slime is to busy worrying about Pearl giving out free BBQ in Knoxville and lying about it than the Cam Burglar taking 200 thousand because Auburn is undefeated. If Auburn had lost 2-3 games Newton wouldn't be playing...Bottom line. Slime is trying to protect his interest as SEC commissioner by backing Auburn and letting the conference win 5 straight national championships

But BBQ > money.

Guys, I am shocked by all this. Saturday I am pulling for SOS and his cocks even if it means a TCU Oregon NC. Go Cocks, at least SOS has some TN roots.

I am confused, don't they have taped coversation of Cam saying "the money was just too much?"

At this point, I think even if Cam came forward himself and said "Trooper wrote me a check", Slive and the NCAA would simply say "don't do that again".

Okay calm down people: Here's what I've picked up from local analysis.

NCAA eligibility and enforcement are separate functions. All that has happened is that because of Cecil's admittance RE: MSU, Auburn needed to have eligibility verifed. They worked with the NCAA, ruled him ineligible then asked for reinstatement. The eligibility review (not the enforcement) looked at the evidence and determined he was eligible at Auburn.

It does not mean Auburn is cleared, that he won't later be ruled ineligible if enforcement finds evidence that 1) Cecil asked Auburn for $ or 2) Auburn paid any $.

All it means is the NCAA doesn't see enough evidence to suggest Auburn or Cam had any role in the MSU situation.

EXACTLY!! Common sense does sometimes prevail. This isn't about the ncaa and BP. UT self reported.
For a bb comparison, see Coach Slimeball (Cal).
