Pearl had a great run at UT and should be held up for that success.

He also screwed all of that up by being unethical over something very petty and stupid.

UT'S leadership failures are well documented letting Pearl go doesn't fall into that category for me.

Good luck to him. Hopefully he's figured somethings out from all this.

yep - I still like him and don't think his violation was so bad; it was just dumb and he paid a heavy price.

I wish him well at Auburn and look forward to seeing what he can do there. Probably won't be long before he joins the group of coaches that have gotten 3 different teams to the Sweet Sixteen.

His violation was back page news (at best) had he just fessed up.

What he did after that got him fired and on the front page.

you think Tn was a power house before Pearl got here. you are trying to make it sound like Tn was winning games before Pearl.Tn was a bad job when he took it and you can spin it ever how you want it but it was.

Right on!

Pearl was a liar and a sleaze ball. Yes sleaze balls can be good coaches. Pearl is an example of that.

We need another option; an outstanding coach who has morals and integrity. Something Pearl never had.

And a coach who can actually recruit a point guard and run halfcourt sets that make sense. It doesn't have to be that far-fetched, people.

When ESPN announced his hiring on their Bottom Line, it read something like, "Bruce Pearl hired as Auburn basketball coach. Pearl was fired from Tennessee in 2011 for lying to NCAA investigators."

My first reaction was, "Wow, that was easy." No one was rambling about how "he got farrrrd over a damn BBQ!!!!", or how the NCAA was out to get him. There are so many people here who either don't know or refuse to accept the reason he ACTUALLY got fired that I had forgotten how clear it was to the rest of the nation.

X's and O's wise, he probably is. Pearl is the better overall coach (recruiting, motivating, etc.) but anytime he faced a good tactician such as Fox, Beilein, O'Neill, Pitino, and others like that, he almost always got destroyed.

Wow...like I said it's going to take him some time just to get recruits to Auburn and then there is the whole under armour thing kids just don't wear it...It's either Nike or adidas in basketball

I asked a bunch of coaches down in Atlanta: Who are the best X's and O's guys in the SEC? Top 3: Kevin Stallings, Billy Donovan, Mark Fox.

Cal should probably be there instead of Donovan, but in general I agree.
