Bad Beats, Monster laydowns...Poker discussion

I play poker quite often, so I understand the frustration by the first poster.... but seriously. quit whining and play the game. If you play it right eventually the good players get weeded out from the poor ones.

I play whatever hand I'm dealt... I hardly ever fold. But then again, I only play poker on the trial game on my phone.

Online poker you have to play tight and play position poker. Someone normally has the goods. Live poker is the game i like most, mostly because online poker bores me. Anyway cash games is about playing the player. Live tournament poker, tight and conservative, with a sprinkle of loose play every now and then, if i win might show them the bluff.

You can play the game the way the book says, but luck still plays a huge role. Jamie gold is living proof of that.

This is prob the closest thing to the truth.

I played Poker for a living in 2006 for a year. I figured out quickly that the donks are your best friend. Over the course of a year skill> luck. It worked out okay for me. I bought a new truck and a new bass boat from my winnings over two weekends in Tunica. Now I didn't exactly pay full cash, but I paid half for the truck and only had to get a 5 year loan on my boat.

I was DUMB to get a real job, but Smart, because I always have a steady pay check.

im playing online tourneys tonight for the first time in 5 years or a so, i normally play $5/10 or 3/6 7 stud at the casino, im 15th after 90 mins out of 550 some, but i dont have the killer instinct. Dont want to ruin my cash play, but i need to open it up more if i get to final50 or so i think

I like to try and win as many chips as possible early. That way if you are still in at the end you have a big chip stack to weather the bigger blinds toward the end of the game. Nothing worse than being low stacked when the blinds are big, you basically are forced to go all-in at some point in time!
