Bashing needs to stop

Most of the excuses being used by fans here... would have just as legitimately applied to arguments to keep Dooley after last year's fiasco.

If you look at it in parts, his teams did improve on O from '10 to '12. The D was improving until Sunseri came in and Dooley stupidly moved to the 3-4.

Now ultimately his stupid decisions saved us from having his incompetence hidden for a few more years.... but the arguments being used to excuse this staff are weaker than those that could have been used for Dooley in Dec '12.

11 games, bro. You're convinced you've seen the very bet that Jones can do in 11 games. Brilliant.

How can Fans.. constantly bash a team they SUPPORT? Fans on VN? few. I understand us rebuilding a team that sucks right now....but the continuous bashing...is it helping the team?
HOW IS BASHING HELPING THE TEAM(vols, remember)?
I bash alabama daily but not as much some so called Vol fans bash the Vols. I think they are more VN fans than Vol fans, plain and simple.
Bashers need to add me to ignore list...please.

this is just dumb....You're not differentiating between critcism and bashing. there's a few idiots in every crowd but by and large most people are optimistic about the future and fair with their criticism. The fact is were currently a terrible team. and I know that due to all the turnover we don't have as much talent or depth as many of our rivals but our coaching staff hasn't done a very good job with what we have either. We should have won the vandy game but we tried to sit on a small lead instead of getting aggressive and going for the ko punch.

did some of us really think that we were going to blow out vandy? Did all of the neganerds that like to "keep it real" actually have higher expectations for a team with our current talent level when they have been saying we were a 5-7 team this entire time? How about we don't jump ship on our first year coach who already beat a #11 team this year, almost upset a #6 ranked team, and has coached through pretty much the hardest schedule i have ever seen. I am not saying that butch is definitely the answer, but i am saying that some of the back seat athletic directors need to give the man some time to build our program.how easy it is for people to forget that saban once lost to ul monroe

Thought we where going for knock out punch.didnt happen.

Fade, you went negative on CDD before I did iirc. End of year 2 for me just before the KY melt down. When did you decide CDD was not the guy?

I had Dools on a shorter leash because there was nothing on his resume to suggest he could actually do the job.

I think that fake FG call, while stupid, could be considered aggressive and going for the ko

Lord... I hope not. Because what I've seen in these 11 games suggests that UT hired a coaching staff that has absolutely no business coaching in the SEC.

LOL... have you looked any deeper than the surface at Jones' success at Cincy? And remember, he took over a program that had been successful recently under a very good coach.

"Dools" inherited a very similar situation in 2010. His team was blown out by 3 very good opponents. They were in every game at the half. Jones has been blown out by 4 teams and was out of those games well before the half. And unlike Jones... he led that team to a bowl and DIDN'T lose to Vandy.

Dooley got his shot, failed, and was rightly fired. But through one year... his staff did a better job of coaching what they were left with than this staff has.

So between Dooley and Butch going only by their pre TN record, who would you hire to coach your team?

Just my thoughts but I would have been more aggressive on 3rd and 2 on the last drive before we punted it back.

Given the circumstances the fake FG was very low %. The yardage needed was too much. If Palardy couldn't kick it I would have put my O back on the field. They called a safe 3rd down play that looked like they were trying to set up a kick. That was the odd part.

You keep telling yourself that buddy if it makes you feel better. I don't think Dooley or his staff would have found a way to win the South Carolina game. I know you are a huge critic of the coaching staff and CBJ--and just the for the record I have no problem with criticizing the head coach but I'm waiting for you to come up with the answer that will "fix" this program. You are excellent at flaming and taking apart peoples arguments piece by piece but you are nothing but a Negavol.

New coordinators would be a great start, imhnvo.

Between the two, Jones and I'd still have plenty of reservations about what I had with him.

Jones won the PR battle up front where Dooley didnt. Jones has lit a fire under recruiting where Dooley really didnt. Jones all around is a more likable figure IMO.

Jones is gonna have to make some staff changes if he expects to get to the top of the east. I don't see it with the staff he has now. If he drags that out too long it won't end well for either side.

I hope he's the guy, I like the way he does things. But I still have reservations about his ceiling here.

It was odd. I asked my buddy if he thought the 3rd down call was part of the set up for the fake.

To be honest a fake never entered my mind after the 3rd down play and what was left to gain. I then thought Palardy was hurt but Jones didn't mention it in the remarks about why he did it.

I think cbj was worried about wind, seems like i recall him saying that. It was bad execution anyway.

I agree. I think UT can upgrade at both positions.

Here's something to ponder. If he gets through year 2 or 3 before making a change he may end not being able to lure what he can now because of his own job security. Most of your good coordinators are employed and most are not gonna jump into a situation where they have to save it and do it in a year.
