Bashing needs to stop

What happen after USCe was us playing alabama with a qb that had a broken thumb, replaced by a true freshman. If only we would have shut bama out.....that would have been validation of the previous two games. Right negatroll

Right. Here we go. Don't have anything intelligent to say... just get frustrated and namecall, right?

Yes. A shut out of Bama would have been a miracle... but definitely validation.

So coaches aren't supposed to prepare back ups to play? And for whatever it is worth... Dobbs didn't make the D play as badly as they did vs MU and Auburn.

I understand where we are, thus losses to teams I expected to lose to don't get me all shocked and frantic.

This isn't UT 1997.

If you don't see where this program is then you will be upset because your unrealistic expectations are not met.

LOL... you're really something. When a coach who you KNEW was going to fail took over a program in even worse shape, you expected him to win right away... to turn the program on a dime then were far more negative than I have EVER been here when he didn't. But now that a coach who you deem superior performs WORSE than that coach did... you expect to lose to Vandy.

Newsflash: Expecting a GOOD coach to get the most out of the talent on his roster is NOT an unrealistic expectation. This staff DID NOT do that with this roster.

Kinda funny isn't it?

sjt gets it.

OK. Help me out. Which win or unexpectedly strong performance after the USCe game validated that win?

I can't understand how people don't see the problem not having a QB caused.
It all went to heck after Worley went down. A Forth string true freshmen QB is going to be a problem for any team.
The Aurbrn and Mizzou games are not blowouts if we can keep the O on the feild.
Still a loss probably, but with a much different feel.

There are MANY Fr who have started at QB at UT and elsewhere. It happens... and teams don't always or even usually collapse into mush when it does.

If Dobbs has the talent, athleticism, intelligence, and leadership that JONES claims he does... then there is absolutely no excuse for not seeing improvement in his play from Bama to Vandy. BUT Jones was apparently so apprehensive about his play that he refused to let him throw the ball downfield vs Vandy after a couple of bad plays.

They had more than 3 months to get Dobbs ready to play. If he is really that lacking in talent (which I don't believe) then he should have never been offered a scholarship in the first place.

BTW, I DO see the difficulty you mentioned. But great coaches overcome difficulties like that... they aren't sunk by them. Dobbs playing in his then 4th college game vs Vandy is NOT a valid excuse for the loss.

My God if I read about Alabama losing to Louisiana Monroe one more time I will freaking explode. Do you think Alabama fans were happy with that? So we should accept losing to Vanderbilt? CBJ and staff needs to know this really is unacceptable and not a post game catch phrase.

**** saban and **** alabama! :gun:

There was a guy sitting behind me and my buddy at the Auburn game. Saw an empty bottle of Dickel lying around after the game. But man, was he a rocket scientist!

1. On 3rd and long, WR catches a short pass on sideline with DB draped over him. DB makes instant tackle. Comment "we jus doan know how to turn up-field!!!" (with a DB draped all over "us"? LOL!)

2. Wide open Auburn guys running all over the field. No one within 5 yards. Comment "we jus doan know how ter hit nobudy!" (yeah...you have to actually be NEAR someone to hit them :eek:lol:).

Those are two I can remember....there were many more. Rarely have I heard such a litany of stupid comments on one subject and in one place. Almost everything he said was just slobberingly idiotic ... and incredibly negative..."we jus su-uck"..."we ernt ner good!"...."what ther hayl is wrong with thaym coaches?"

Here's the deal...he didn't know **** about football. He was a 50-something ole redneck that just wanted to get drunk and watch some football, and if the Vols win, the buzz is a lot better. He didn't actually give a rat's ass about Tennessee or the team, he just wanted to have a good buzz. The damn team was interfering with his buzz!

So there you go...this explains about 80-90 percent of the so called "negavols" on here.

"They jus' wan' get liquered up n' have a good tahm!...en thet daym futball team ernt co-opratin'!"

I don't see it as an excuse. I'm having trouble deciding what I think of CBJ. To me the 2 momentum killing ints caused the play calling. That with no other qb to put in made for a ruff day. I just don't know what else he could have done

The problem I have with Jones and the QB in the Vandy game is he said the cold weather really affected Dobbs play as he had never played in the cold. Then he praised them for not wearing sleeves well if your players are playing bad because they are cold are you not cutting your nose of to spite your face just to prove how tough they are.

Beating Butch and the best staff in America does not look good on Dooley's resume?

Has anyone noticed that all of Dooleys good wins were the first game of the year?
We even looked good against Oregon till the weather delay.

CDD couldn't make adjustments, but give him 3 months to prep and he was pretty good.

Good coming out of the gate, but not much down the stretch that's for certain.

To what?

Coach Butch started out Bad, improved, then it turned to crap.
Coach Dooley had one Good game each year then it all went to hell.

All of that is true.

Jones won a game that Dooley didnt his first year after that the comparison is pretty similar outside of the Vandy game and making a bowl.

I think they both digressed at the end of the season. I know our Octobers are a gauntlet, but our defense has went absolutely incompetent at the end of this year. We can't even have someone be in position to look slow or get out athleted.

Ah yes, get mad because I was correct.

Dooley was putrid and I was one of the first and most vocal on here about that.

Again, I'm very confident in my stance on Jones.

But you keep on with the criticism of him, you'll be in the same place you were on Dooley. Wrong.
