It's that mentality the issue comes up in the first place. Name one access to anything a white has that blacks do not and give a credible reason for it. The avenues for success are equal if not skewed in minorities favor now with affirmative action in education and the workplace, the only hindrance is this archaic mindset that keeps being told to current generations of minorities to be used as an excuse.
It's not about race, in general, though. The BCA says minority=black. I don't understand how only one group of minorities are deemed worthy of coaching football. I guess Navy's coach feels pretty left out.
Do some schools not hire minority coaches because they are a minority? Maybe, but I doubt it's many. Most schools just want to win, whether the coach is white, black, asian, latino, etc. Is Turner Gill a good coach? Looks like he may be. Is he more qualified than any other newly-hired coaches in big schools? Sorta-kinda-maybe. His biggest year so far is 7-5. I think Auburn could have done better than either Gill or Chizik. Syracuse just brought in an NFL guy that played at Syracuse.
I don't care what the racial make-up of head coaches is. Just win.
If i'm correct MLK just wanted equal pay for equal work . I commend him for this and his peace loving mannerisms. I think MLK day is a very important holiday for everyone.
On the other hand JJ and AS have caused as much hate in this country ( for their financial gain ) than any one else that I can think of.
Name the last time a black coach had the reigns at an Alabama, USC, Florida, et al. The record of Mike Tomlin, Tony Dungy, Lovie Smith and others at a level far more difficult to win at than D-I renders your point worthless. It's a perfect copout for spineless ADs who don't want to look like bigots to the sane world, while still appeasing their bigoted, halfwit fanbases. "A black coach failed at traditionally awful program A, so we can't think about giving one a job at a traditional power."So what you're telling me is that no minority coach has been succesful because they haven't been given a chance?

rights thats why there are 398902409234 minority grants and since im white i have to go get God knows how much in loans?

my guess is norm chow woudl have gotten a head coaching job by now if he were white. and save me the "his personality is lousy." if charlie weis can get hired at ND any asswhipe can get a head coaching job.
Charlie Weis and his NFL Voodoo is about to wear out its welcome.
Chow is already over 60 years old. That alone may hold him back, but there's got to be more than being from Hawaii going against him.
BUt if your black and in the south and you dont want to suceed you get a government handout
uhhh....I think this one misses the mark too.Whites get more "government hand outs" than blacks. Look at welfare numbers. This is a statement ignorant people always make during discussions on race. Blacks get "Government handouts" but if you actually did research and saw the programs for rural mostly white people and combined with lower income urban and suburban whites they get way more "goverment handouts". Trying to get an equal chance is not looking for a handout.
Gill is more qualified than several white coaches that have been hired at BSC schools.
You do realized that blacks have been coaching football for longer than the last 10 years, no?
Further proof can be seen at Dales Winning Edge. I went in yeserday to the tent sale. Hundreds of right handed drivers, hybrids, putters. Maybe 20 left handed drivers, hybrids. And 1 left handed putters. The only ones getting the winning edge is righty. :dunno:

Qualified for a job doesn't always mean that they are the best fit. Turner Gill has 1 good season at Buffalo. I agree that Gill should have gotten the job over Chizik but not because of his stellar resume. Charlie Strong would be a better example. Your last question has nothing to do with my post. Of course I realize they have been coaching longer than 10 years. WTF?? My point was that there has been more opportunity for black coaches in the last 20 years. You're seeing more young black men focus on coaching due to those opportunities that haven't always been there. There are a host of young black coordinators and position coaches who will be looked at for HC vacancies as they become more experienced and proven.
