Never mind. The misunderstanding was just repaired. The ESPN anchor referred to it as the Sunday early seeding. Given that it happened Saturday, all mysteries are solved. They won’t take in today’s results due to the lack of a time machine.

There would be no logical reasoning for jumping Illinois above us if we have 2 ranked wins this week and have won our last 8 out of 9 games.

Technically they don’t have to go in true seed order when placing 1-8 but often they do. If they try to keep teams as close to their geographic regions as possible which they claim to do, then this would probably put Tennessee in the Arizona/Baylor region in San Antonio. First round games in Pittsburgh

It will be interesting to see how brackets and the AP poll weigh this week. You’d think beating Kentucky would be worth more than a loss on the road at Arkansas, but feels like we’ll probably drop off the 3-seed line which IMO is just dumb.

Doesn’t matter too much if we just take care of business down the stretch.

I figured as much. Which is unfortunate. But, all we have to do is fix our own issues. Plenty of good wins still on the table we just need to not let another shooting performance like this happen.

If we were to go 4-0 down the stretch, I think that probably locks up a 3-seed no matter what happens in the conference tournament. And, that’s all I really want. Avoid the one-seed.

The NCAA’s Teamsheet ranks have us 11th in both quality and resume. Technically that would still land us as a 3 seed. Probably a safe bet that Illinois moved ahead of us. We still rank ahead of UCLA in all of the committee’s metrics. Maybe we’re still a 3 seed in their next update. Would help a lot for Wisconsin and Providence to lose today.

Yeah the difference between a s16 matchup w Gonzaga or Duke is pretty massive this year. And the fact Arizona is a likely 1 seed as well. Don’t want to have to beat that team twice.

Definitely. With Texas losing yesterday, Providence and Wiscy going down means we probably only move to 12, but 13 at worst.

It’s all kind of moot I guess at this point because we still have 4 games left, but there hasn’t been much help lately with teams above us (or just behind us) losing. It’s a very weak bubble this year. Not many upsets going on.

I was a little surprised they put Auburn in the Midwest and Kansas in the east even though Auburn is the higher seed. The difference in distance from Auburn to Chicago or Philadelphia is negligible. But obviously for Kansas it’s not

I know it’s a talking point for us fans to debate about but at this point, we just gotta worry about us. We have some issues that we need to limit as we go forward, and if we do that and take advantage of what’s ahead of us, we’ll like the seed we get. But... the players are gonna have to buckle their chin straps because it’s do or die now. This point of the season is all about mentality. The teams that refuse to lose and come out each and every game with a chip on their shoulder will stay alive. If they truly have a bad taste in their mouths from last year, they’ll prove it.
