Bruce Feldman and Tim Brando criticize the SEC's handling of LSU/Florida

What other game does LSU have scheduled on Dec 10?

Sorry, I made a mistake.

So you think LSU/Florida are going reschedule home games after the SECCG? Well first I doubt that any of the other teams are going to agree to that, second, LSU isn't going to reschedule Senior Night, three, common sense.

The commissioner needs to force his hand. Set a date and make them play. After Katrina, they told Tennessee they had to play on that Monday. No exceptions. The game was played and UT won.

First Saturday in December seems logical and move back SEC Champ game one week

Okay now that we have heard all of that LSU. Bottom Line is this: If that game does not get played then (as your AD said) it will probably be decided using divisional records or Florida and LSU won't be eligible to go to Atlanta. As long as that is the solution there should be no issue with whether Florida and LSU play the game.

Or say that to be eligible for a division championship you must play 8 games. That way LSU gets the South Alabama game that their football program cannot continue without and Florida successfully dodges playing LSU

The reason we are in this position is because Sankey lacked the testicular fortitude to tell UF to be ready to go on Sunday or to forfeit. The instigator of this problem is UF acting in bad faith though.

If that is what makes it fair for all 14 schools then that is fine by me. Most likely they would go to the divisional record scenario so LSU and Florida would still have a chance to go to Atlanta.

SEC office set the date. Play the game or neither team is eligible to move forward. It's that simple. Either play your required 8 games or you are ineligible for SEC Championship game. Not sure how or why this is even an issue.

I agree with this. Tell both schools they are gonna play or else forfeit their chance to go to the SEC Championhsip.

Absolutely!! It should have already been done by Sankey last week. That's why he is now on the hotseat. He should have issued that ultimatum last week to both Florida and LSU!

All he had to do was this....

Florida its your call... LSU has offered Saturday, Sunday, or Monday in Gainesville or Baton Rouge or other location, with or without a crowd. If the game is unplayable in Florida than its a forfeit on any day selected than you forfeit.

Who writes all the checks?

I believe LSU might be game for 11/19 and eat the buyout, I doubt Florida will agree to this.

Don't know, SEC? Don't really care. This should not in anyway drift over into the rest of the league and its championship game being moved.

Yes I agree on that. I also agree that this is Florida's fault not LSU's. I don't blame LSU for not wanting to give up a home game. Our spineless gutless commissioner should have made the call you describe last week. He didn't. He is on the hotseat. Divisional records will have to decide who represents each division unless the game is played. But I do agree with you on last week. Hell if it were Tennessee we would have come to Baton Rouge. Hell we don't care where its played we just want to play football!!

I'm confused. I did edit my comments before you posted so the confusion might lie there. I think its crazy for someone to suggest that Florida should be damaged or penalized at this point, regardless of how I feel about their handling of the situation.

I don't blame Florida, I clearly blame the SEC and Stinkey. I'm not even upset or anything, that is what is so crazy.... I got third parties crying to me about the game must be played BS, like they really cared to start with. :eek:lol: This is the SEC's problem and I would balking if I were Florida at this point as well. F them (SEC).

Some updates (LSU Monday Morning call):

- LSU is saying November 19th will be a home game (out of the question).
- LSU will give up the bye week if Alabama's schedule is changed and they play on October 29th.
- Looks like LSU has offered December 3rd in the Georgia Dome.
- LSU is still implying the game will probably not be rescheduled.
- Looks like the SEC doesn't know or there has been no dialogue as to who wins division 6-1 or 7-1. Haha

I will note he didn't say November 19th they couldn't play UF, he just said it will be a "home game". :eek:lol:

Sounds like to me.... that LSU is saying:

- Play UF in Baton Rouge on 11/19
- Play UF in Georgia Dome on 12/3
- Play UF on 10/29 in Florida, if Bama has game moved to same day

Very petty to make that demand of Bama. Bye weeks are always uneven. It was not fair for Tennessee to have UF/@UGA/@TAMU/Bama in consecutive Saturdays, but that's the schedule.

Georgia was dumb enough to agree to the Jacksonville site every year so maybe not

Exactly, Like we would agree to play Vandy in Murfreessboro every year! What idiots! I wish Alabama would agree to play us in Nashville every year!

LSU has done everything except concede the game to Floriduh, and they won't agree to anything. The Commish should have stepped in the weekend of the game!!!

I think it's becoming clear that UF is not the problem here.

UF WAS the problem from the start. Now that the world doesn't stop spinning for them, they want to point the finger.

Think about what Florida expects LSU to do:
1) play 3 straight SEC road games
2) give up a home game
3) lose 1/7th of their football gate revenue

All cause UF didn't want to play Sunday...

Cant blame LSU at this point.

Theyre expected to:

1) give up a home game
2) play 3 straight SEC road games
3) and give up the one "bye" weekend they had in their schedule vs their opponent the next week who has the same off week.

That's a lot to ask of someone who was willing to
1) Play sat
2) play sun
3) pay for Florida to come and play in BR

It's not petty at all as you rewarding a team for gaming the system. I say schedule it, LSU forfeits and that solves it. Of course, every Vols fan doesn't want that either.
