I'm sorry your idol was about as sleazy as calipari and that more crap continues to come out about him. I know this must be hard on you. I'm appreciative for everything that Pearl did as far as putting the basketball program back on the map. Also, all the renovations to TBA and the building of Pratt that came along with the success e brought. However, that doesn't mean I'm not happy he's gone, and that I feel we are better without him. This article was brought up because it has to do with Tennessee basketball, an this is the Tennessee basketball forum. This wasn't a random thread with no backing just to start talking about Pearl, it was an interview that was brought up last night.

If news came out say about Tobias Harris recruitment, should we not discuss it since he's gone? It still has an effect on Tennessee, so yea I'm sorry but it's probably going to be brought up and discussed.

Bruce Pearl has not been proven to be sleazy....he committed one proven major violation and that was to lie about a secondary violation.....the bump rule was proven to be false.....how many articles are written yearly like this one to get everyone talking and then we never hear another thing about it....the ncaa had all his phone records and hounded the hell out of him and didn't find out about this......its probably not true or at least not accurate....

What about the whole thing with Illinois while he was at Iowa? Dude's slick and got caught because he was getting sloppy.

Yeah he was young and told on someone for cheating.....he has been black balled for twenty plus yrs and probably part of the reason he got in trouble......the man has paid his dues

Most asst. coaches that get blackballed don't win D-II championships and get a top-10 coaching job. He's had it easy compared some other offenders.

But whatever, the system worked itself out.

That's not like you normally, Lyls. Looked like you were ready to rumble for some reason. I haven't agreed with many things KTV has said, but he has moved on from BP and is supporting CM, like 99% of the fanbase. The only time BP is brought up is by those that want to bash him.

Words like hero and idol and Pearlophile are tired.

Not even kidding. After the game a student at UT posted on facebook "Bruce Pearl show clause in two years ends, and he's still in Knoxville. Not a coincidence."

It's like some of the fan base don't want to move on from him.

Just forget about him and let's move on. We have a hell of a coach doing great things here.

Agreed. I was a Bruce fan and thought he deserved a second chance assuming nothing more came out of the investigation. However, more things did come out and now this just makes him look even worse especially being mentioned with scum that is Scott Drew. I just wish people would quit blindly following people. The whole "everyone does it argument" is very dumb and that's what people turn to. Support Coach Martin and this team. We have a lot of pieces coming back next year, and Coach Martin will do things the right way.

I liked what Bruce did (up to June 14, 2010).

I like what Cuonzo is doing now.

VN has a serious problem of aligning itself with one coach.

On 104.5 and about to answer their question about this report.

By the way, his basketball analysis has been great this year. He just gave props to stallings and vandy, but said they may be coming up short because they just want it so badly. That takes away from the fun and when you don't have fun, you don't play as well.

Just FYI's.

He said he has never talked to the kid or parents.
He said he has talked about the kid before when asked if he could play in the sec and said "I would have loved to have had him"
He has talked to the Ohio coach.
He expects a retraction or clarification of the statement.

Just passing along.

Good info.
Hope it's true, although he also said be didn't know about a picture in his house and we know how that turned out.

Hopefully he's being honest and that's the truth and this goes away quietly.

That's the problem with lying. Once you get caught doing it, everything you say is questioned (rightfully so).
