Harsin was a super odd fit from the very beginning. It wouldn't surprise me if Greene hired him not because he thought he was a great fit, but just purely to spite Rane who wanted his boy Kevin Steele. Harsin's name came out of absolutely nowhere to take that job. Harsin was born and raised in Boise, played QB at Boise St, and spent the majority of his coaching career at Boise St.Stepping into a mess like that... he would not survive either. Harsin doesn't suck. In fact he has a pretty good resume prior to Auburn. But it takes more than a good coach to change a program, AD, and culture. UT has demonstrated how you do that right... and how fast it can work when you have that kind of alignment. There is no evidence Auburn has that.
I agree. I think Stoops is good…For Kentucky .Auburn is going to have to overpay to get a respectable head coach.
Mark Stoops makes $6m/year at UK, increasing to $8m/year by the end of the deal, and he gets automatic one-year extensions with each 7-win season. Top 15 salary in the country. He'd be an idiot to leave that job. There is no job in the country with a better stress/salary ratio.Staying at a job where you have no room to move up would be insane.
There’s nothing else he can do at UK.

Auburn doesn’t want to wait to win. Stoops is a programbuilder, my way of the highway kind of guy. Auburn needs someone w/ some energy to bring some life to the program. Honestly, Lane would be a good fit. Not exactly an original thought on my part, but he would bring recruiting, offensive football and excitement. It does make sense

Leaving the most secure job in the SEC and Going to an absolute dumpster fire like Auburn has a big impact on your quality of life.
I’m not sure about that.
A lot of UK fans aren’t happy with Stoops due to his inability to win games.
He might be feeling the heat and realizes that he’s maxed out his potential at Kentucky.
There’s no reason for him to stay unless he’s absolutely in love with Lexington.

If they could get him itd be a home run for them. I have a hard time believing Lane will jump at this though. He will 100% have better opportunities if he keeps waiting. What I think he'll do is use this as a raise at ole missI agree. I think Stoops is good…For Kentucky .

There's a difference between fans not being happy with not winning big games and being on the hot seat. And honestly, the only big game he should have won more of during his time at UK is Tennessee. He has not been and never will be expected to beat UGA or other top SEC teams. UK is one of the worst programs in SEC history historically. He consistently has beaten his fellow dregs of the SEC East (Vandy, Mizzou, South Carolina), has done pretty well against UF, does well in their soft non-conference schedule, then goes to a pretty good bowl game and wins that. By and large they are more than happy with him.I’m not sure about that.

At the right time Auburn is a great job. Right now, not so much, but there aren’t that many jobs better than Auburn. If they could get him itd be a home run for them.
