I didn't want to comment until I watched the presser. I don't t think he looked down. I just saw a serious man and he has to be tired as hell.

He basically said it right there. 13 months for OSU to build a relationship with Bell to 31 days! I wish all you moron haters would understand just how tough it is to come in cold and land the big fish. Give CBJ some credit for pete's sake.

Interesting? On Dec 5, 2011, Hugh Freeze was hired as the new Football Coach at Ole Miss. By NSD-2012 he was able to put together a class ranked #40 on the rivals board. This year, at the moment, he has assembled the 7th best class in the nation (which is still only good enough for the 4th spot in the SEC).

On Dec 7, 2012 Butch Jones was hired as the new football coach at the University of Tennessee. By NSD-2013 he was able to put together a class ranked #20 on the rivals board. Next year, by extrapolation, it appears he will assemble the 4th best class in the nation (which should be the 2nd best class in the SEC).

I can't wait. :dance2:

Wash, rinse, repeat. These are the same arguments I heard for three years about a coach who was obviously in over his head. People defended the coach and chastised those with any type of differing viewpoint.

I haven't made up my mind on Jones, but this class was nothing more than a disappointment.

CBJ Just put in (31) 24-hour days while we tuned in when we had some free time. CBJ is a real competitor and gonna be a great coach. IMO this guy can recruit AND coach. Predict we get a couple more recruits added - probably JC players, probably linemen to 2013 class. Already have one 4-star commitment for 2014 class which will be a top 5 class with entire year to recruit, legacy players, and a bowl game. Very few coaches could have flipped 9 recruits from other commitments. Get some well-deserved sleep coach. True Big Orange fans appreciate your hard work and will be ready to support you from Day1...

The "moron haters" weren't the ones claiming Coach Jones was on the phone last night and had locked up a big fish! The "moron haters" weren't the ones claiming coach Jones was going to finish strong on NSD! Looks to me like a lot of posters wrote checks they couldn't cash:hi:

All this grief only because Bell went with Ohio State. No doubt in my mind if Bell signed with UT and the rest of the class stayed the same all you nay sayers would be singing a different tune. He did not pick UT so get over it. It is not the end of the world.

Yea...you tell them...3 Million for some loser-of-a-coach that has been here less than three months, not even had the first practice and coached his first game. How dare he land a pathetic #20 Rank Class with all the losing HE"S done at UT.

I agree with this assessment. I think these guys assumed that the history, facilities and SEC membership would make for easy pickings. I can't help but wonder what else they underestimated. I'm just going to look at this as a continuation of the Dooley era so as to not go getting my hopes up.

I don't think there was any underestimating. Jones hired those willing to work for him and we hired acoac who has never had to recruit at any sort of level. His history of recruiting doesn't exist. We didn't know going in whether he could recruit. Now, we have a much better idea. I liked not knowing better than the reality.
