Can McCarthy survive as Speaker?

Oh sure. Tea party. Another unqualified candidate.

Face it, the far right is not going to win this. Go with a moderate. Get some control of the House. Move on.

You just want a whacky lib or uniparty big spender. Major changes are needed in DC.

Rather than worry about the GOP, you should look to who is going to reign in spending on your side. We are about to fall off a cliff and massive cuts are going to be necessary. Of course that would require some fiscal conservatives in the DP.

I like that there Dems are trying to make this a big deal while being a huge reason why it was done.... yall literally vote to oust a speaker who was making back doors deals against his own party with you.... and that is a good idea because it looks bad on the GOP... it makes the left look like they lack cant form a individual thought

Maybe they would have helped him if he had made some sort of offer for it.

They're not going to bail him out for free.

The GOP talking points seeking to make this a Dem issue are so pathetic.

Could they have ousted McCarthy with out the dems?
Just turn it around a little. If the Dem's would have did the same with Pelosi would R's have voted yea or nay. They would have voted no confidence, bought some popcorn and enjoyed the dysfunction of the dems.

Look, I hate this and the Dems didn't do a thing for McCarthy but the GOP would've gladly voted Nancy out no matter what on any day and any time.

Realistically, the "one Representative can petition to vacate the Speaker" rule applied to BOTH the Dems and the Republicans.

Did the Dems try to remove McCarthy? They had the ability to bring it to the floor also but they didn't.

I'd love to spin it that "the Dems did this" but a Republican brought the motion, not the Dems, and having a majority but still needing Dems to "save McCarthy" isn't a good look either.

The GOP needs to get their s&$t together or we're going end up with Dems controlling the Legislative Branch and possibly the Executive Branch again and that isn't good for America.

And they would be just as responsible for the chaos..

They couldn't get the votes to bring it. That's why they didn't. They are both responsible for it... problem is you see it as a negative the GOP isn't in lockstep...they arent now when they should have voted for Jordan..so do we blame the 20 that didn't vote for jordan??

What do you mean? Gaetz had the rule implemented that one member could bring the resolution, go to floor with it and demand a vote, and the GOP ITSELF failed to get it tabled, sent to committee, or blocked some other parliamentary method.

Had the Dems brought it, the GOP would've also failed, apparently, to stop it. The Dems didn't.

And ABSOLUTELY we blame ALL THE GOP that isn't uniting to do what's good for future elections and the country. Jordan would be a great Speaker. Scalise would have been a great Speaker. McCarthy would be a better Speaker than this chaos.

If you think the American public views it as a good thing the GOP can't unify and open the House of Representatives, you're mistaken. The frustration of the GOP caucus members is OBVIOUS because they know it hurts the chances of electing another GOP majority in Congress.

Disagreement is great, wonderful, fine until it shuts down the House. Hammer it out in GOP caucus, choose a direction, and move in that direction.

So your not ok with the 20 that decided not to vote Jordan??? The house isn't shut down and isn't in danger of that.
