Chris Donald

Here is a quote from the ND writer of the story:

"Nobody makes a better recruiting pitch than Charlie Weis, so when Donald says Notre Dame has pulled even, I’m sure he means it. But his deep-seeded love for Tennessee likely isn’t going to go away. All things being equal, Notre Dame would have a good chance. But things aren’t equal. He’s always felt like a Vol, or at least a Vol-to-be. This is an uphill battle for the Irish all the way."

In other words, if there isn't a big break for ND in the next 2 weeks, Donald will be a Vol.

I think that if the visit only brought ND even with UT that we will still land him. He will get home, relax and think about it, receive a few calls from our coaches(and texts) and commit to us.

And that is totally fine with me :devilsmoke:

Warrior, werent you the one who said you would bet your life he commits to the Vols? I'm hoping you have an inside source because we absolutely cannot lose the best instate prospect yet again.

I didnt like the comment about his dad being concerned over all the ut athletes in trouble with the law. It concerns me that we may have already developed an outlaw image.

I think you have to be concerned that Donald is not talking to the local media. From what I have heard, he is not returning calls. Now, he might be doing the same for Notre Dame media but it seems strange that this happened right after his visit up there.

I have been saying that I felt as though he's going to ND but I just cant stomach losing the best player instate again. Hope Fulmer can get the train back on track, sure we can lock up the second tier instate talent, but we cant hold on to the best the state has to offer.

He has grown up loving UT. UT produces NFL caliber LB's every year. He is probably apprehensive about the level the program will be at when he gets here. As long as UT comes out and looks solid and looks to be improving I think he commits no question. But, I think he might be leaving the door open in case we come out and look like we did last year. Plus the parents are a little caught up in the "education" being better at Notre Dame. Hogwash. A Notre Dame diploma in the real world is the same as a UT diploma. The mystique clouds people's minds in that department.

That's not exactly true. It depends on where young Mr. Donald settles after college. A Notre Dame degree carries more weight nationally than one from UT.

In the field that he is likely to major in you think a ND degree will be more impressive than UTK? I get your point that in certain high collar fields there could be a difference, but I dont think he will be majoring in such a field. Maybe I am wrong though.

You are way off. A Notre Dame undergraduate education is much more impressive than a UT undergraduate education.

Be careful. Some of the loyalty police will be on here soon talking about how you don't really love UT.

Maybe for the majority but there are programs where UT would come out on top.

I guess that might be true for employers that are caught up in that sort of thing. Also, that statement is too generic, if ND has degrees in nuclear engineering or logistics and transportation for example, UT's degree in these fields would be considered more prestigious. It depends on the field, you just can't use a blanket statement for an undergraduate degree.

L&T was the one I was thinking about

I highly doubt any undergraduate program that UT offers would supercede the same program from Notre Dame. ND was tied for the 18th, with Vanderbilt, Best College in America by US News and World Reports. UT was tied for 85th...

Having spent a year at a Tier 1 school and then transferring to UT, I will state that the education one attains at a Tier 1 institution can never be matched at Tier 2 or 3 institution.

Can't disagree more. I will offer up L and T as one for an example. Also, I am a firm beleiver in the fact that the person is the one that makes the most out of their education, not the institution. I believe the books at UT read the same as the ones at ND.

ND does not offer L&T nor Nuclear Engineering. So, you cannot use those programs in response to my statement comparing similar programs at the respective universities. Also, you might be a firm 'beleiver' in your supposed 'factual' statement, however, I believe that learning in classes with a 15:1 student to faculty ratio is more advantageous to any and all students than a lecture hall environment and a 200:1 student to faculty ratio.

Also, I highly doubt that the books that students at UT are reading are the same books that students at Notre Dame are reading.
