He really did get what he deserved. It's funny when people can find nothing on a guys character then him throwing a gator chomp in someones face. Shoot Casey Clausen was throwing gator chomps all over the field when he beat Florida.

How about that douchebag Peyton Manning leading the band at Alabama?

He has great sportsmanship too. Did you see him taunt the Oklahoma player?

I was ridiculed by a few Florida fans for saying T.T. was the classic poor sport.. cries when he loses and taunts when he wins. I've seen him do that movie clap-board thing at players before, he got caught last night.

Tim Tebow represents all that is good about college sports. He's a great football player, a humble guy, a fearless athlete, and a humanitarian.

You won't catch me complimenting anything that wears Orange and Blue very often, but here's my props. :hi:
I agree with you 100%! I have a great deal of respect for Tebow as a person and a player.

So he taunts a player once in his career? I am glad he did...I thought it was funny! :)

This is an absolutely ridiculous post.

First, you don't need family privilege to do mission work.

Second, he took responsibility for the Ole Miss loss and said that he would work harder than anyone to atone.

Third, everytime I hear him speak, he deflects praise to his team and gives thanks for his faith.

You can hate him for the occasional on-the-field antics, but if you've ever played even a pick-up game of ball, you know that we all do that stuff.

:clapping: Great post!

While I would also nitpick your characterization of him as humble--I believe his antics, particularly the constant motions to the crowd, are a form of self-adoration-- I agree with you. He represents a lot of the best things about college sports.

I should respect him for that, but I do not. I dislike him as a hated rival far too much, which is probably a sign of respect in itself.

Tebow is money. I can't think of a fanbase on the planet who wouldn't love to have him. His speech after the OM game did it for me.

I agree Doc. He's an okay guy that's a bit cocky but I can't think of anyone that plays/played sports that isn't. Maybe not this guy.

John Daly - The Official Site of John Daly - The Lion - Grip It and Rip It

As far as the game itself goes, Oklahoma lost it instead of Florida winning it IMO.Too may boneheaded mistakes.Florida always seems to get the lucky bounce.ALWAYS.

First of all Harvin getting 1 1/2 first downs with every rush is not a lucky bounce. No matter how hard Oklahoma tried to reinjure his ankle, he kept getting up and making them look like little girls.

I think OK abandoned the short passing game too soon and relied too heavily on the running game to allieviate the pressure on Bradford.

I appreciate the fact that you're a fellow UT fan BUT...to say that TT is the "classic poor sport" is completely inane.

If your definition of taunting and being a poor sport is the gator chomp, then Peyton directing the band is akin to drowning kittens.

Let's be realistic. The gator chomp to UF fans is no different than "Rocky Top" to us. I especially hate to see it when we play them because that usually means they're kicking our arse.

I chalk it up to simple jealousy.

Let's hope that next year UF will :puke5: from hearing "Rocky Top" over and over.

I agree with you there. Have you ever seen a guy as beloved as Tebow who taunts after almost every first down he makes and cries when he loses? People are too quick to overly praise Tebow for the normal things that he does. How many mormon kids take missionary trips where the actually leave football? Tebow is doing good works but his sacrifices are nothing on what those kids go through but he gets anointed and they get made fun of.

I also have a huge problem with the FL law that allowed Tebow to be homeschooled but play HS football. That is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard. I have been homeschooled for a short time and know plenty of other people who have as well. Tebow should have been required to go the route that anybody else would have if he wanted the same opportunity.

That speech was commendable but I guess I'm a cynic. I think he is a little full of himself. The previous poster was correct in that he taunts in every single game and it's usually after a very pedestrian play. I'm sure it's my hatred of UF but the way he speaks reminds me of a lot of the local North Florida people I've met who are none too bright. He's a great guy and I have respect for him but I am not impressed with his intelligence or the way his character is portrayed to be something greater than what it is. The hype is not his fault but it doesn not make me like him any more.

Still waiting for the hypocrites to answer this one.

Leading a band in victory is different than Gator chomping in the defense's faces after you run the ball 4 yards for a first down. Tim Tebow's college career is full of hypocrisy but, in his defense, little of it has to do with his choosing. Tebow is just living his life and can't help it if the national media overhypes him as a player and a person. He is a good role model and a quality guy but the moral standard that they claim for him is ridiculous.

Tebow's antics get on my nerves, but that is basically because he has had so many opportunities to display them against Tennessee. I don't really have much of a problem with athletes with egos, as most athletes without them remain on the bench.

I'm not sure what provoked the "douchebag," but celebrating after beating a rival is fine with me.

tebow, classy guy, after some of the questionable shots on FLA players, id be a bit more inclined to do some chomping if i was gator, and im sure that joker from OU mouthed something off after getting trucked, so he probably deserved it, especially after that nice little WWE move that one joker tried to put on percy harvin's ankle,,, I dont have a problem with Tebow, i think meyer is prick and 99.24% of the gator nation can all go get herpes for all i care....

I hope Tim Teblow goes to the NFL and gets raped by every defensive linemen in the league.
Your comment doesn't really deserve a response but I'm feeling overly generous today.....you are an example of what college sports is not about....bet you couldn't throw a football 2 feet....Tim Tebow is a great role model and a humble guy who gives God the credit for any success he has, unlike you who is jealous of his abilities because you have none....while you are sitting in front of your tv bad mouthing anyone who attains success in their life, Tim will be out contributing to make this a better world. I truly hope you are not a TN fan but are just a stray who wonders around on different forums trying to feel important. As Tim would say, God Bless and as an avid TN fan, I say GO GATORS, CONGRATS! and I wish Tim continued success in everything he does.

ditto ditto and ditto.

Sure, because it was your Saint Manning doing it.

No, but I do like Manning and think he is a classy guy. I would have no problem with Tebow leading his band in victory. My issues with Tebow are because of the media portraying him as a Saint when there are numerous other college players who do as much or more off the field as he does and get no credit from the national media for it. It's surprising that you are not more critical of the ridiculous amount of attention he is given but you always try to cast Manning and other UT players in such a negative light. Your "Oscar the Grouch" routine is laughable and inconsistent lately.
