First years for both at the major school:

Coach K: 17-13, 6-8 in conference, 5th in the ACC.

Coach Martin: 19-15, 10-6 in conference, 2nd in conference.

So yes, based on where we are in Martin's career vs what K was at this point, Martin looks better.

Coach K's first 3 years at Duke: 17-13, 10-17, 11-17.

Coach Martin: 19-15, 11 wins so far.

He's done better at this point of their careers.

yeah and Coach K coached against far better compettition. Cuonzo is just getting worse. We should have won at least half the games we lost this year. If he doesn't exceed expectations after next season then he should go. All this team needs is a true point guard that can control the game.

Did K lose his two best players, his best for the whole second season? Doubt it. Look at the records. K got worse, too. What's the argument? K didn't even make the NIT his second and third years there. Give the guy a damn chance. That's the whole point. Good god. You never know what may come of it if you don't let it evolve. What would've happened if Duke had the same mindset as the fans on here? Exactly. Too many people jump ship way to early on this board.

Dude, that's Kentucky which has far more tradition in Bball than UT ever will have. Seriously. UT has had some good runs, but recruiting wise it has never been on the same plain like UK. Even your precious Pearl took some spankings from UK. I will say CCM has to be more selective with his recruiting. But he has brought in Stokes and has Hubbs coming this fall. Richardson, Reese and Moore have shown to be productive players that will continue to get better. Maymon's absence is more devastating than many realize. Unlike many I'm not ready to throw the towel in on CCM.

If we had an AD with balls, instead of a bumbling idiot like Hamilton this whole thing would have been looked over and we would have still had Pearl and winning...

It's pretty sad that the fool Hamilton let the NCAA bully it's basket ball program and the most successful coach we've ever had over such a dumb issue.

What could Hamilton have done that wouldn't have made the situation even worse? Honestly. Nothing. If he kept Pearl, the hammer would've come down and the program would've been destroyed. If he stood up to the "bully" throughout the process, the same result, with probably more sanctions and failure to comply issues would've been brought on.

That is like saying you are going to not comply with the FBI if they are searching your house for something. Just not smart.

If Nick Saban or Calapari lied about something as insignificant as a BBQ, what would their AD's have done if the NCAA had come gunning for them??? Probably would have told them to kiss their a** and take a hike and would have had Slive and the rest of the sec stand ground too.

Pearl was a victim of a weak a** AD. It's just pitiful that UT's most successful coach was sacrificed by an idiot AD to appease the NCAA.

But that's the story of Tennessee lately... We fire our legends and hire mediocre coaches.

1.) Calipari is a snake and he runs away every time the NCAA starts sniffing around, so he has no need to lie.

2.) If these other coaches lie and their bosses say that (which you can play the "if" game, but I doubt Saban is dumb enough to lie) they are stupid. I highly doubt they would do that, because then they'd be out of a job for a long long time.

3.) This goes back to the cheating thread and the whole "win at all costs" deal. Why the Hell does our fanbase want to stoop to that level? Raise your kids to lie and tell you to kiss their ass. Smart.

If a district manager finds out one of his store managers has been lying/stealing/manipulating etc, the store manager gets fired, just like Pearl was, despite how much profit was brought in. It's called ethics and morals. Find some.

I agree with your argument, but Trae is not the best player on this team. He was last year, but Trae has hit a wall. The bad thing about Trae being hurt is that we don't have a ball handler now.

Kind of like when dale Earnhardt died . It is the same team with dale Jr. there was a huge drop in wins. You can't replace someone who knows how to win with someone who has watched others win. I assure you if they could bring Dale Sr. back to drive again they would without hesitation. So all of you holier than thou , butt hurt fans need to get over yourself and start begging for them to bring Pearl back. Win baby win!!!!

Hey bud go to the store and buy some "midol". Hopefully that will calm you down a bit and I am giving the guy a chance. I just stated that if he doesn't exceed expectations next year, then he should be gone. Hate to bring up Pearl, BUT he did take his first year Tennessee team to the NCAA tournament and was in fact a #2 seed if i'm not mistaken and that team had very little depth. And Duke did have the same mindset as people did on here. The fans wanted him gone but the AD stuck with him. Read for yourself "The last dance" by John Feinstein. Don't bark up the wrong tree again my friend.

Compared to what Martin inherited, the team Pearl took over from Buzz Peterson was the Miami Heat. I'm pretty sure Pearl didn't leave Martin a future NBA point guard and a record-setting shooting guard.

I'm not personally attacking people calling them dumb for their opinion. Martin can't coach and Bruce should not be at UT, but I'm calling people dumb weather I agree with them or not. cuonzo clubbers have always violently defended the man by calling dissenters dumb, ignorant, and clueless.

It is my opinion that the dude's opinion was dumb. He may think the same of mine, and that's perfectly fine because I'm actually in touch with reality.

I don't think even the biggest Zo fans are feeling confident with him right now. That has been said by myself, ZJC, calban, Shaun, cncchris, BTO, and every other hardcore UT bball fan. So let's drop the whole "Martin slurpers" thing because it's not around anymore. On the other hand, "begging Bruce to come back" will always be a dumb, ignorant, and clueless opinion.

I know one thing. I would love to have Miami's coach. The man knows basketball. But he was "too old" for us to even take a look at. We had to have an up and commer.

Martin will be fired when it makes sense financially to do so. If attendance remains top 10 (around #6 now) he will be retained. This will be a financial decision as it always is.
