Cuonzo Martin must be fired asap...

And the fact you made that Kentucky comparison still amazes me...you really think we have the appeal they do to coaches?

C'mon man, you're smarter than that.

If the Kentucky job is so appealing why did they have to make Cal the highest paid coach to 'lure' him away from memphis? Why not undercut his current pay since, as you are professing, the job is so desirable?

If we let Buzz Peterson got 4 years, Martin deserves at least 3.

For those of you whining Martin should be fired after this year, if you got your wish, then you better not whine when UT can't get another quality coach to even pretend to want the job. No coach worth a crap would even entertain coming here if we fired Martin after 2 years that were hardly the worst they could be.

Same thing was said about Dooley.

The answer is $$$$$

Our administration doesn't even care about football based on the past few hires. Why on Earth would anyone expect them to care enough about basketball to spend money on or even pursue an impact coach?

Dooley was given a 3rd year.

And that worked out how? Hell I was a Dooley supporter, I see how other schools can turn it around in basketball within 2 years and see us going backwards.

Look at Miami for gods sake, they have won 4 NCAA tourney games in their history, a good coach (we didn't look at) comes in and bingo, 2nd year ranked 8th in the country.

You stick with pumping a looser coach by saying we got 'snubbed' last year. I'll stick with expecting us to hire a guy worth walking the sidelines in TBA. Fair?

And he doesn't cheat, has character, morals, etc, so he has more right to the sideline than you. And, for a 4th time, he has a better resume prior to and 2 years at UT than Coach K had before and 2 years at Duke. So, if/when he wins 20 next year, he'll be more successful than K in that aspect.

Because when you're the second most profitable basketball program in the country, the coaches expect to see some of that windfall.

Basic economics, my abrasive little friend.

It worked out the way it should have, Dooley was fired, and if UT doesn't improve next year (and I say make the NCAAT), Martin will rightfully be shown the door.

I'll say it again, nobody is going to come here if you fire Martin after 2 years and the small mess he inherited, the same way no one would have come here if Dooley had been canned after 2 years and the huge mess he inherited.

First years for both at the major school:

Coach K: 17-13, 6-8 in conference, 5th in the ACC.

Coach Martin: 19-15, 10-6 in conference, 2nd in conference.

So yes, based on where we are in Martin's career vs what K was at this point, Martin looks better.

Coach K's first 3 years at Duke: 17-13, 10-17, 11-17.

Coach Martin: 19-15, 11 wins so far.

He's done better at this point of their careers.

Here is that comparison again. So yes, Martin's record is better than K's was.
