Cuonzo Martin must be fired asap...

I would role the dice and take Calipari in a heart beat. Yeah it would suck being the best bb program in the country.

And you realize that since the Vols are not a poster child to the NCAA, we'd be hit even harder and faster than Kentucky. And then the reactions would be the same as it was with the Kiffin situation. Do you not learn anything from observing what happens?

They did when he took this roster that was picked to finish 11th in the SEC to a 2nd place finish. Now that your two All SEC players are injured and surprise, we're struggling, everyone's saying fire him(in year 2). It's hilarious.

One player doesn't make or break a team. However, why do people continue to Maymon's injury is an excuse for a lack of Martin's coaching.

And I guess you think Kentucky is what you call a "poster child" to the NCAA? They have just a "little" baggage when it comes to cheating in their past. Didn't seem to stop them from hiring Calipari. Yeah, I'm sure all the KY fans are scared to death every time they hang a banner up in their arena. But maybe we can sit back and watch their success and one day say we told you so...or maybe not. Maybe they continue winning the SEC and compete for NATIONAL Championships year after year. Yeah, I would choose the only logical choice of winning year after year instead of hiring "up and coming" mid major coaches. Maybe you just got so use to losing that it just doesn't bother you anymore.

Maybe I have more ethics and morals than those that don't give a damn and would sell their first born just to win a few more ballgames. And yes, Kentucky is a poster child for the NCAA and if you don't see that, I don't know what I can do to help you. Kentucky obviously doesn't care about the high risk that they're running, but that's what (used to) make Tennessee better. Obviously people here would rather fall down to their level ethically.

You can stand on your side of the fence if you want, but I promise you that most TN fans would trade their basketball program with KY in a heart beat. You are in the minority.

We were ranked and beating the best of the best..

Yeah! That's right! That number 1 ranking lasted a whole day? Those Florida teams we owned won 2 national titles and are still in elite status. How many NBA players do we have in the league? 2? Sounds like dominance to me.

and this thread is by far the DUMBEST thread I've ever read on Vol Nation and I've seen some pretty dumb things.

And then when the hammer comes down and we pretty much don't have a program anymore, they can brag about all those championships we once had but were stripped away and we are laughed at because we cling to something that no one else recognizes. Yes, I'd like to win, but there's no way I'd trade for Kentucky. Florida maybe, but not Kentucky. And any Tennessee fan should want nothing outta Kentucky. We tried that type of route once, and it bit us in the ass. Why the Hell should we try it again?

How the heck do you figure that?

Well, Kevin Ware was granted a release after Pearl was fired, and Chris Jones is now playing for Forbes isn't he? I may be wrong about that, I just thought I remembered it. So if Bruce were still here, I would think those two guys would be here.

Edit: just found this on an ESPN article.

Jones' pledge to Louisville means that the entire 2011 Tennessee recruiting class, the final class recruited by Bruce Pearl (Forbes was an assistant on the staff) wound up at Louisville. Guard Kevin Ware was a freshman for the Cardinals last season.

I can't read this response and figure out which side you are fighting for. We did beat both Florida teams that won titles, we did beat people on a regular basis, and we did it without elite talent, which is difficult to get to Knoxville. And the number 1 ranking comment is odd, because no other UT team in history had ever been ranked that high.

You're standing all alone.

KY will not be bringing down any banners. They have one of the best basketball programs in the nation. They pick and choice which players they want each and every year. They will stay at the level they are at as long as Calipari is their coach. A little advice....go to TBA next Saturday, sit back and enjoy your TN basketball. At the end of the game notice the reactions, expression, moral, etc... of the fans wearing blue and the fans wearing orange.

If you don't want to be like KY, then you should enjoy every bit of the game next Saturday.

Yea you're wrong.

Ware may be here, but some stuff went down with a handler of his that caused him to really reopen his recruitment and ultimately end up at Louisville.

As far as Chris Jones, no he flat out wouldn't be here. You're right that jones plays for Forbes, what you're missing though is that that is a JUCO. Jones went there because we couldn't get him into school at Tennessee, so regardless of if it was Pearl, Martin or Coach K Jones wouldn't be here.

And Ware had an LOI signed to play at UT. He was released from his LOI after Pearl was fired. As I recall, Martin tried to get him back and failed. And seeing as to how Jones is now going to Louisville, I have to think he would have played for Bruce at UT had he still been here.

Not so sure about Jones not being here. If Pearl got Ramar in here then not so sure that Jones couldn't have gotten in also.

I'm not fighting for either side. I'm just stating that it's not like we were that hot of a program before. Someone commented that we beat people but how does that make us elite? I was using the pointless things people like to state when saying we are elite because we aren't. Yes. We beat some teams and got an elite 8 banner but some people put us on the same steps as a Kentucky or Duke when looking at progress in our program. We haven't earned the right to be as impatient as we are.

As I remember, Martin tried to get Chris Jones back and was successful in keeping his committment. CCM didn't put any effort in keeping Ware. He signed Josh Richardson instead and released Ware from his LOI. CCM never wanted Ware here.

You said jones would be here now, I was pointing out that was false...that's all.

We were one of the top programs in the SEC (top 3 at least). We were consistently in the bottom 3 year after year before Pearl. We were better than any other time in UT history, so that was "elite" for UT basketball.

I can stand alone all day long. I'm not like you and willing to win at all costs. I have more self pride and, as I've said, ethics to do what is right. They don't/won't have to take them down, just like USC doesn't have to take Reggie Bush off their list of Heisman winners. Still doesn't mean it is correct according to the governing body (the NCAA) which is what is recognized by those outside of the fanbase of that team.

Cheek wouldn't have let that happen.

When there is a cover up, I'm sure there is only a select few that know about it.

I doubt the chancellor of Memphis knew about Rose situation.

I just don't think Pearl would have had Cheek "in the know" about Jones getting in. And I KNOW Cheek is not smart enough to figure it out himself.

Yeah, I believe you're right on that. I got Jones and Ware mixed up, I guess.
