from 1995 until 2007 duke won 24 games, 24 games in 13 years. That averages to winning 1.85 games per year.

Cutcliffe in 5 + years has won 28 games.

Duke has never been to back to back bowls until 2012-2013, Duke went to a bowl games last year and is already bowl eligible this year.

I think that is a pretty good job.

i think Cut would have done good at UT,if he would have kept Chief,you got to admit he would have gotten what ever QB he wanted,hmmmm if Fulmer could have kept him just imagine

I respect the heck out of Coach Cut. No question he would have out performed Dooley. He would have had Bray in the Heistman discussion and probably elevated him to a first round pick.

However, I really don't think he would have gotten us back to the championship level we desire. We would probably averaged 8ish wins. I'm happy for his success at Duke. Hate that Hammy botched the 2 consecutive hires but Cut wasn't the guy to take us to the promised land.

Duke also wanted to turn their program around. UT still had all those administrative issues until recently. Nobody wanted the job. The fact that Duke is 7-2 in itself is amazing considering Butch Jones never did that well at unc. The have impressive wins especially over Virginia Tech. Cut has done outstanding.

I've seen countless instances of our Butch getting called Davis:ermm:..first time I've seen Jones put at UNC :huh:

Coach Cut probably would have been coaching Taj Boyd instead of Bray. He would have been a better hire than Dooley or Kiff but that list is a long one.

Wasn't it mentioned during one of the coaching searches that Cutcliffe said something like he was tired of being Tennessee's fallback?

well you have to think you go to a program that had won 5 games in five years and the first year your there you win 3 those fans out there think he is the greatest thing since spurrier had his short stint there plus he has no pressure because he is building what he wants his way.

This isn't his first winning season.

As bad as we are, we were never anywhere near as bad as Duke was when Cutcliffe took over.

They were "Necessary Roughness" bad.

I disagree. If we won eight, people would be upset that we didn't win nine. Win nine? People gripe because it wasn't ten. Win ten? People would complain that we didn't go undefeated and win a NC.
It's just the nature of the beast.
