Big Sal picks up a save in a 10-1 game.

Big Sal has been transformed. Time for the FO to eject the wannabes in the pen. No way Sal should not be in the pen unless they are prepping him for SP next season. if that is the case they can send him back for a couple more starts and then call up in September for the pen.

Would love to see a Sal type transformation of Reed and Finnegan for lefties.

Bell pulled the trigger on taking Luis out too soon. Lorenzen blows it.

I think Castillo was running out of gas in the 7th but I would have tried to let him get out of the inning, Lorenzen's last 2 appearances resulted in no outs and 3 hits, 2 BBs, and 3 ERs. I don't know how the pen went from being one of the best in the league before the AS break and than one of the worst after? Overuse or what? We're going to have to really invest some serious money this off season there if we are to be a contender next year.

Yeah, I think you hit it. Bell burned it up in the first half. It was 5-6 innings and done nearly every game. That was my thoughts back then. When you do that you need a second wave to come in and dump the dead arms. They waited way too long to dump a couple of them and it would not surprise me if Hughes is another one that needs to happen. Work on Sims, Gausman, Sal and Mahle to have them carry some of the load with Lorenzen, Garrett and Iggy. If they get that bunch doing it right, they are playoff ready. In a playoff series this season they have Wood available as a lefty reliever.

They picked up Freddy Galvis for SS on waivers today. Great move IMO. Controllable at a reasonable cost for 2020. Blue Jays are going youth movement. Freddy can play - good defender. Needs work at the plate on pitch selection to get his OBP up. Shores up SS concerns for 2020. Hopefully they can get a quality farm prospect ready for 2021.

I saw that Galvis pick up and I like it. Even if we keep Iglesias we could still use him, can never have enough quality depth.

Disco - again. He and Lorenzen need to clean it up. Disco is getting almost automatic on giving up a HR in the first inning.

Wasted a good pitching effort.

There are good reasons that teams use good base running contact hitters at the top of the order. Winker, Votto, Suarez are too below average on speed and base running ability to be at the top. That order requires HR's to score. No HR's, no to low scores. The team is in the bottom third in runs scored with about 75% of the season gone. Bell needs to do a better job of analyzing stats if he wants to manage that way.

My line-up has Senzel, VanMeter, Votto at the top of it. Winker/Ervin should be driving in runs at #5 because Suarez is HR or bust in most games. But it will never happen.

Man this team is keeping up it's tradition of being frustrating as hell! Every time we get close enough to think postseason we bomb a series. Loved the Freddy Galvis pick up however....

Made some bull pen moves today: Hughes was let go and claimed by Philly, Romano back to Louisville, Bowman called back up, and Joel Kuhnel called up. Between Chattanooga and Louisville this year he is 5-3, 2.18 ERA, 14 saves, 53.2 IP, 50 Ks vs 16 BBs.

This team is tanking.

Just got to Cincinnati and the stadium looks amazing can’t wait for the game tonight and tomorrow. Last night in Louisville the Bats lost 5-2. Mahle started for them but went only an 1.1 and gave up I think 3 runs.

You are seeing a beauty tonight. No Votto, no Suarez, no Winker - no problem. You got to see Lil Senz and The Punisher jack it out.

Looks like there is going to be competition for that 5th SP spot in ST if they don't sign somebody in the offseason. Mahle better get it together.

We had a good time but glad to be back, it was awesome to see the Tennessee boy and the Punisher homer in person. The dream of a miracle playoff push is pretty much over but there is some promising signs going into next year. I hope the young guns can finish off the rest of the year on a good note and go into 2020 strong.

Same here. Glad you had a good time. The Big 3 SP's pitched really well against the Padres. If they keep that up 80 wins is not out of the question. Especially when they get some hitters healthy.

Suarez has eye problems IMO. He's been strange at the plate for a couple of months and just looked like a little leaguer dropping an easy pop up. 4 K's at the plate tonight, just stands there and watches strikes go by belt high, then swings at garbage.

Bell has very little feel for managing games at this point. I hope that improves. He had Lorenzen ready to go for the 9th, changes his mind after they scored to go ahead and brings out Iggy - who blows it. Another one run loss. One run losses are a direct reflection of managing competency. When you have twice as many losses as wins in one run deciders - you need a change of strategy.

For starters, he can send Suarez a message by batting him about 6th in the order. Dietrich should only be a PH or utility guy the rest of his time with the club. They sure did not need to have Senzel change his stance mid-season. He pulls off the ball every swing now.

How real is Aquino?

Appears to be real, just a late bloomer. It was always his hitting. Once they changed his stance and approach it all clicked and he now can follow the ball from the pitcher's hand well. He could always play D, good speed and has a cannon for an arm. He's working on pitch selection and seems to be figuring out what the opponents are trying to do. He's really good on low pitches and has learned to shorten his swing on high and/or inside pitches. He's not bulked up and muscle bound, so he should not be injury prone. It's still early, but looks good.

I can't believe we're getting ready to be swept by the Pirates. Outside of one start, Bauer hasn't exactly looked like an All-Star.
