Da Reds thread

MLB needs to run rule games like that. Embarrassing with Sonny starting. Garrett sure talked big about how he was closer quality pre-season.

It's beginning to look like a few years ago with the staff. Bad ugly other than Mahle and Miley.

Suarez up to .162 as the lead off hitter. How's that working out for the team, Bell? At least Votto is starting his rehab assignment at Louisville. They can move Winker back to LO and Suarez back in the order when he comes back.

If Suarez continues on his present pace he will have 100 hits on the season with 38 of them being HR's while being 40 points below the Mendoza line with a sub .250 OBP and mediocre at best D. So was that club friendly contract of a few years back all that friendly? Pretty clear he fell in love with hitting dingers like Todd Frazier did some years back and his shoulder problems set him back.

3 game winning streak, looking for our first sweep of the Cards since 1990, and 4 games back from the division with Votto coming back soon?

Dare to dream?

What just happened? Sweep 4 from the Cards on the road? This team might do something if they can get the pen fixed.

If the Cubs, Brewers, Cards and y’all can fix thing then watch out. The central will go downto the wire, and be really strong. Y’all just swept us, and congratulations. It’s amazing what y’all did. Y’all can be strong if you get your bullpen fixed. Y’all and us get healthy, fix fix fix is what I’m calling for. Good luck to y’all and let the from offices and management fix both the reds and cards.

The Central looks like the top division again. Love your team and the Cubbies as well. Even the Brew Crew has been tough so far, but I expect them to fade as the season goes on. Looks like it will be all about staying healthy and fixing the pens as you stated. Good luck to you as well. Cards and Royals have always been my next favorite teams from living in Missouri back in the late 70's and early 80's.

I'm going to pull back on wanting to deal Senzel. They gave Wink longer to get it together and stay healthy. It has worked out. They need to do the same with Senzel. If they deal they need to move Suarez if they can ever get his BA above the Mendoza line. Both India and Senzel can play 3B and 2B - so let's stay with the #1 draft picks like Wink and develop them into the players we know their ability says they can be.

The central is coming back to its strength I do believe. I also think the Brewers will fade, and the cards, reds, and the Cubs may be left standing fighting it out. Got to stay healthy for these teams, and yes, fix these dern bullpens.😂 I am glad that your next favorite is the cards. Good luck and don’t be a stranger, come back and we’ll discuss things as time moves on about our teams.👍

The Reds have issues but I think they can be contenders if they shore up the bullpen. That's a big if. They need consistency from Hendrix and about 4 more relievers. Lorenzen could be one. From there they'll need to promote some arms from the minors. I do not want to send them trade more young prospects. That's how they got into this pickle.

It's awfully fun to see this offense score runs, starting with Wink and Castellano.

So Vladimir Gutierrez went 7 IP - 6 hits- 7 Ks - 3 BBs and only allowed 2 earned runs on 102 pitches (also collected his 1st career hit). In 3 starts he has thrown 17 innings, allowed 11 hits, 5 runs, 8 BBs, and 13 Ks. I've been pleasantly surprised at his early success, his minor league stats were never overly impressive to me.

Good game tonight. I still think that the Cards, Brewers, Cubs, and the reds are tough. Y’all look tougher in the last week and a half to me.

I'm definitely on the trading Suarez group. Despite his average there would be interest based on his power numbers. We have several options at third with India, Senzel, Moose. I still don't think Nick will ever come close to playing a half season however.......

Called up another new starting pitcher in Tony Santillan from Louisville. He'll pitch for Gray on Sunday. In 6 starts this season he is 1-3, a 2.51 ERA, 32.1 IP, and 45 Ks/12 BBs. It would be really nice if he and Gutierrez can be solid young starters for us in the rotation.

I'm hopeful Senzel is more like Wink. He had a lot of injuries as well, but as he matured he learned what he can and cannot do. Senzel has got to learn to throttle back some as well as the org needs to play him in the IF. Will see - if he cannot get it together bundle him in with somebody and get some pitching.

Suarez is beginning to raise his average a bit by going the other way. Get him over .200 and trade the guy. He's not good on D at either position and inconsistent at the plate. But somebody will want his power.

I've thought Tony was ready for quite awhile. Glad he got the call. Need to find answers for that staff because the team could make a run when they get Moose back. Won 9 of the last 12 even with all the injuries and uneven pitching.
