DC Black Hawk vs Plane crash.

Trump actually did both. Did you even watch the news conference? He started with a moment of silence and then offered his condolences and he did promise a thorough investigation to prevent this from happening again. It's almost like you are commenting without evening knowing what Trump said in his speech. Maybe you should see the whole news conference instead of picking parts and pieces that fit your narrative.
Speaking on behalf of the libs on here, why on earth would they start following this recommended action?

Lol I posted a pic showing flight path and accident, the presidents quote, and that it seemed "fishy" (i.e. suspicious)... I then posted a video of a very not political explanation of the crash and what we know. The drama here was not supplied by me. It's in yourselves. I do wonder why certain people seemed butt hurt at anyone who questions events. Where have you all been the past 10 years? Conspiracy theorists are batting considerably better then the propoganda news networks and the sheep that regurgitate them... ..perhaps some people just find it objectionable to think.

Have they confirmed or released the names of the American team members on board? My wife follows skating and is asking. I haven't seen any listed.

Except he didn't just leave it at that and had to say something stupid. All he had to do was offer condolences, start an investigation and be quiet until all the bodies have been recovered. It's what any decent human being would do
This is the stuff I hate about Trump. For the most part, I think he's done a much better job this time around leading up to his 2nd term. But then he says this crap that's so utterly offensive, this time in the wake of a horrific tragedy before bodies have even been recovered. He has no idea yet what caused the crash. But he wants to score some political points using the favorite buzz word from the right "DEI hire" so he just runs with this narrative that most likely had 0 effect on this incident.

Well said.

True but then Trump might also already have some info on the black hawk team, etc that is not public. Lets not confuse politicians with human beings and we both certainly know if the leftist media could tie this in any way to a Trump action, it would be the only thing they discussed. In the words of Rahm Emanuel, never let a crisis go to waste. And you would cheer it on.

Its why people dont like pols - but have you noticed that pols still havent ceased to exist?

Reports are coaches from a Boston area skating club were on the plane... Nancy Kerrigan was doing a presser with someone I did not recognize.

DEI is way more than race. Get over the pity party crap
His little tirade was over "there's too many white people...too many white people". I'm on topic here.

There is ZERO evidence this terrible accident was a result of ANYTHING other than human error at that moment. No DEI former initiatives to blame. Trump brought it up.

My wife is Polish, and she exists.

Honest question: how would a +/- 1 week-old hiring freeze have averted this tragedy? I ask, because I am not aware of the onboarding/training that ATCs (especially those at major airports like Reagan International) go through once they are offered and accept a position.
I think this hiring freeze could very well have future implications. I think letting Elon bully out the guy in charge for the crime of....holding Elon to Federal standards with Space-X could have future implications.
It's a ripple effect. A gap in hiring = future overwork or undermanning.

What I don't think is getting up there and whining about Obama and Pete Buttigeg and white people or whatever causing this is fair or even remotely plausible.

Long story short, Trump's actions will have much more consequence than the bogeymen he's trying to pin this on.

From: Trump blasts DEI in wake of DC plane crash

What they're saying:

Trump took ample time during the press conference to bash the Biden administration, including former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Trump said Buttigieg concluded that the FAA’s workforce was "too white," and that his diversity efforts "run it right into the ground," even using profanity at one point to describe the former transportation secretary.

"We have a high standard," Trump said when asked how the crash was caused by diversity hiring. "We've had a much higher standard than anybody else. And there are things where you have to go by brainpower. You have to go by psychological quality and psychology. Quality is a very important element of it.

"These are various very powerful tests that we put to use," Trump continued. "And they were terminated by Biden. And Biden went by a standard that's the exact opposite. So we don't know. But we do know that you had two planes at the same level. You had a helicopter and a plane that shouldn't have happened. And we'll see. We're going to look into that and we're going to see. But, certainly for an air traffic controller, we want the brightest, the smartest, the sharpest. We want somebody that's psychologically superior, and that's what we're going to have."

The other side:

Reporters questioned Trump on how he could conclude that DEI efforts played a role in the tragic crash when investigators don’t know yet what caused it. "Because I have common sense," Trump said.

Buttigieg, meanwhile, responded via X, calling the president's comments "despicable."

That Trump considers is "common sense" that DEI caused this is absolutely freaking mental and isn't at all something his followers can justify away.

Oh so man boob Buttigieg said that. Lol. Reading comprehension must not be a strong suit for you.

Then you keep that info to yourself until their bodies are recovered. No need to denigrate them on national TV before their families know

I am sure that Trump has access to more information during the presser than people on this forum. Agree with it or not, he is using the opportunity to shine a light on our countries emphasis of DEI policies over merit. Will bite him if no evidence of irregularities ends up being public.

Future implications (positive or negative) of any policy implementations or changes are likely, in any case. My understanding is that the current hiring freeze is an across-the-board pause for a defined period of time. If 30/60/90 days max (or whatever it is) makes or breaks the future of air safety, things are already broken (perhaps due to adjustments in standards around the 2012-2013 timeframe).

Keeping focus on this morning's tragedy, the whole thing is a **** sandwich that appears to have been caused by human error, not by an untargeted hiring freeze.

Human error and a dumb policy of allowing cross traffic at night across a short final at the end of a runway. Why was the transponder not turned on? That is a disaster waiting to happen in a high traffic area. If they were wearing night vision then vision range is restricted. The freeze had nothing to do with this tragedy. If you want to find the cause of the crash, look further back up the tracks at (1) policies and procedures (2) efficiency ratings (3) human error.
Edit: transponder was on.

I have a dumb question about this... more or less unrelated to the current incident, but kinda related...

Why does the ATC computer system for tracking flights not look like it's been updated since 1983? It looks like it should be hooked up to a dot matrix printer for crying out loud.

Again, where were these comments in the CA thread?

Horseshoe theory. The left and the right deserve each other.

Trump is gonna get blamed because that's what people do. Just like the LA government getting blamed for a 2% FD budget cut to administrative staff.

Lol. They’ve announced they’re building it back by doubling down on those bs initiatives. I see you’re still trying to portray you’re something you’re not.
