"Difference is Unreal" Says Current Player

Funny thing about that "article". It's an op ed (pure reporter opinion) and there's a poll at the bottom where the fans completely disagree with the author. Looks like one reporter was mad, but the people thought he did a great job! Thanks for further proof we've got a winner!

Adams writes for them also. :loco:

Right...but a ton of the negatives about Dooley are coming from mostly neutral parties.

That means a whole hell of a lot.

A lot of the negative staff about Dooley has been coming from Tennessee HC coaches who felt ignored by Dooley. But you can make an argument that does not matter so much since Dooley clearly had roots and name in Georgia and he focused there (hard to blame him when there is more talent there). Anyhow, Butch is the first UT coach who finished behind Vandy in recruiting so I'm not sure what everybody is so excited about.

The 32 of 37 coaches polled that I referenced were from a three state area, including GA.

Ugly stuff always comes out about any coach that leaves. You can find stories on very famous coaches thrashed by players so that does not mean anything. Just in case you think our current coach is immune to this here is a little something about him as well.

Did you bother to read the POLL at the bottom of the article! The people of OHIO DISAGREE with the one reporters opinion! Doesn't that tell you something? Get off the Doolaid and RISE TO THE TOP with the rest of us.

And we can all clearly see how Dooley's recruiting and focus in the great state of Ga payed off. Why don't you go ahead and buy you a Vandy hat. Being a Vols fan clearly brings you no joy.

Ha!! Nice find TG!! Love how we get bashed for saying he's a salesman and here's an article by someone that knows him backing it up. But but but look at the poll...who cares....read the comments...seemed to be not very liked in media.

If this was a anti-Dooley article or a pro-butch one than they would love it. Now you are still the bad guy cause this was CBJs Dream Job...ha!...sheep...

I've said it a bunch. I want UT to succeed so by default I want CBJ too. He's the coach so I will root for success, but don't fluff me and expect me to drop to my knees. At least Dooley had the balls to tell us what's wrong and start working on it.

Exactly. This article should be a must read for all the morons who are upset about Dooley having a contract clause to get paid if fired. All coaches who are able to negotiate this have it, and it's clear from this article Butch is no different - he will do what is best for him at any given moment just like all the rest of them. But I don't blame him - that's how the game is played so he is just following the rules (same as Dooley).

:think_not:
I love my UT hat just fine so no thanks as far as Vandy offer - actually love Vols so much that I'm willing to put up with having to educate (for free) people like you on internet forum - what more can anyone possible require as a proof of loyalty?

I'm only thrashing CBJ in the context where people are comparing him to Dooley and thrashing Dooley (CDD is my all time favorite coach and I think he did an amazing job rebuilding our program even if the results could not come quickly enough to satisfy the hysterical and ultra emotional fan base).
But I do hope CBJ succeeds (I like the energy as it reminds me a little bit of Dooley's first year). I also hope/wish that CBJ has much better luck then Dooley (can't imagine anyone ever being that unlucky again).

You have GOT to be kidding??? :eek:lol: Dooley was without doubt the worse coach at UT n 60 years....Easily...I can see why he was your favorite...He did not rebuild this program he destroyed it....3 losing seasons is not rebuilding...Losing to Kentucky is not rebuilding...Losing to Vanderbilt is not rebuilding...Is reality smacking you in the head yet??

Ha ha. Just because Dooley isn't my all-time favorite coach and I support our current coach, that means you are educating me. Very funny indeed. There may be a reason you educate for free.

Going from having no good players on the roster and program under NCAA investigation to having one of the best offenses in the country and school history within 3 years (via great recruiting - i.e. Hunter, D Rogers, CP, o-line, J Graham, Pittman) is the definition of rebuilding. Only people who don't have a clue about football can think that the program Kiffin left behind could have started winning right away as soon as new coach was installed (whoever it was). And if it was not for Sunseri hiring Dooley easily could have gone 9-2 last year - you can blame that hiring on Dooley if you want but certainly that in itself cannot prove to anyone who has common sense that he is not a good coach.

I also support our current coach - just not blindly like you as I want to see some evidence first to convince me he was the right hire (I look for that evidence via success in recruiting and games, not in number of twitter followers or holding breakfast sessions with fans and reporters). So far I have seen failure in recruiting (compared to what our previous coach did in his first year). Also, supporting current coach does not require thrashing work others have done before he was installed, especially since the new coach is not proven in the SEC, and the previous coach easily beat him in the direct matchup.

The fact that there are people who still condone what was accomplished by the past regime, and are still amazed by player reactions to workouts shows me that this fanbase cares nothing about excellence and is only concerned with getting by. The "good things" that Dooley did and these workout reactions are the bare minimum. You see things like that at San Jose State, too.

That's why stuff like this doesn't matter, that's why we wanna see something on the field.

UT fan all the way. Just can't stand to see Dooley get thrashed because I think he put his heart and soul in this job when he was at UT and I'm forever grateful to him for the effort. Also, I did not want Gruden instead of CBJ (but I think we should have searched longer and could have gotten better coach than CBJ).

are you ****in serious?

If being optimistic about the way our new coach is doing things is called supporting him blindy then yes. I am guilty as charged. Also, I have seldom thrashed Dooley. He had my full support untill the MO game. It was then that I realized that as good a guy as he seemed to be, he simply was not a winner. He never has been.

 It is most definitely NOT an op ed opinion that Butch kept telling Cincinnati he was committed to them - that is a fact (so all the talk about how we now have a standup guy who is somehow morally superior to other coaches because he understands working people values, etc is a joke).

To be fair to you, I don't recall you thrashing Dooley in other threads (unlike many who don't post anything but Dooley thrashing all over the board). By the way, I don't have a problem with replacing Dooley after the MO game either (had to be done given that ticket sales and recruiting would suffer because he was on the hot seat). But that still does not mean we can not keep the calm head and look at the good stuff he left behind that will help the next coach in line.

It really does get on my nerves that one of our coaches who, I assume, has a college degree, does not know the difference between "your", which indicates possession, and "you're", a contraction of "you are." It is about as bad as when I hear people say "irregardless", which isn't even a f&@*$%g word!

I could be wrong. But I don't think that f&@*$%g is a word either.

i don't know how dooley made the program better if expectations for the 1st season of butch jones are about the same as the expectations were for the 1st season of dooley.

People like you really amaze me! You takes the opinion of one Bearcat press person along with the comments of a few upset fans but can't look at facts. There really is no use responding to your "off the wall" comments. Like others on here, I will not respond to you any further unless you post something with fact and an opinion based upon facts.
