DirecTV and the SEC Network (merged)

Doesn't Dish also carry the Big 10 network, Longhorn Network and PAC 12 network???

I think that is what I read. I have Direct TV now and they don't have any of those that I know of.

Direct TV has NFL and Dish has College.

I love my VOLS the most ---> Dish wins :loco:

The big 10 network is on direct channel number 610

I got a note in the mail that said DISH had LONGHORN and SEC so I switched, since I got tired of waiting for DTV to negotiate.

Also make sure you have the box set to 720p for less motion blur. Back to topic. DTV will get it. As for when. Noone knows yet.

You are correct sirs! I just never made it that far as my hand would usually get tired and cramp up as I switched thru the innumerable infomercial channels offered.

EPB Fiber Optic has reached an agreement with the SEC Network and it will be available in time for the start of the season. They said anyone with a "Silver" package or better will receive the channel at no additional charge.

With the recent agreements with Comcast and TW look for the announcement of a DTV agreement shortly.

DTV, total subscriber wise, is the big dog in the field of cable TV providers. There should be no doubt that DTV would carry SEC Network - the only question being, at what price? It was not in the interest of either party for DTV to be first. DTV did not want to pay more than other providers and SECN did not want to 'sell out cheap'. Thus the wait for the other major providers to reach agreement. Once that hurdle is cleared the final "i's" and "t's" can be dotted and crossed. Announcement of an agreement should come soon, maybe by the end of next week.

As to the DTV/DISH debate - it really comes down to personal preference. For picture quality - I have seen both, as well as Verizon and the major cable companies and they are equal in the digital age. In the analog environment the cable companies left a lot to be desired in the PQ area, but digital fixed that! Moral. If you are not happy with what you have - change - otherwise move on and find something else to complain about!

I have DTV and I set the DTV receiver to support all resolutions. Settings>Display>TV Resolutions all checked.

The I set video to Native=On. Settings>Video>Native=On.

With these settings, the DTV receiver passes the video format/signal directly to the TV without any conversion. My TV is 1080p but it will display the network you are tuned to in its native format without any conversion. When watching ESPN it's displaying 720p which is their delivery format. If watching CBS, it's 1080i etc. As far as picture quality goes, this is the way to go.

Just saying:

Big Ten Network is on DirecTV. Its on there, trust me. I watch it all the time.

Dish does not have college. The only thing they have is SEC Network (for now)... Seriously, who cares about Texas, or the Pac12?

I just got a $15 a month discount on my DirecTV for a year because they don't have SEC Network. So when DirecTV DOES get SEC Network, Ill be having not just more channels, but a better price.

Same here.

I can get 480 through 1080i , no 1080p

Yeah someone pointed me to the Big 10 Channel 610. I have been planning on switching to Dish because Direct TV hasn't got the SEC Network yet and when I was looking at the Dish plans I know that I saw Longhorn and PAC 12 networks on there.

Hey I'll take Texas and PAC 12 football over NO football and college over NFL.

There aren't any broadcast networks that broadcast HD in 1080p. Just 720p and 1080i. They are not the same btw. As some who makes video files every week to be distributed to CMT, GAC, Local stations, ESPN, etc. I can tell you the process is very different.

Exactly right as I mentioned above. Cool line of work you're in. Always thought I could have gone that direction. I really enjoy editing in Final Cut as a hobby.

It has it's ups and downs, like anything. Long hours in a dark room. I mostly handle final delivery and captioning and such. I'm over music videos. Although the place I work, we are doing the Spurrier doc that will air on SEC Network next month.

Talked to salesman at best buy tonight he told us that dtv is carrying the secn and it will be on at the launch date. Said announcement is coming by first of August

So a Best Buy salesman knows more about it than the drones at Direct --- amazing, BTW how much was the TV he sold you ?
