Do you Run?……Walk?….Bike?…..Swim?…..yoga?…..lift weights? What’s your workout plan?

What kind of bike do you ride and do you hit roads, trails, or both?
I’m a road cyclist. My current bicycle is a Giant Defy Advanced 3 with a compact frame and chain ring set. I can attain speeds over 30 mph on flats and have a deep granny gear for climbing steep hills. I do ride paved trails and paths as well as roadways.

Wow, that looks like a sweet rig.

I run while being chased.
I do like my local gym. While training for a backpacking trip, I do a lot of stair master work with weights in a backpack . Bike, treadmill and and now, the rowing machine has become one of my favorite things.

I so stair master when cutting, stationary bike when maintaining, walk during clean bulk. I run and hike for fun and not part of my regular routine.

Very late summary of last week:

Complete my three run/walk sessions on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday.

Got in long walks two other days, total of 7.5 miles Monday and 3 Saturday.

I'm having to stop running again for a couple weeks. My new shoes have helped but my shin splints hurt pretty bad when I run so I'm going to give them time to heal. Long walks only I guess to keep the weight loss going.

Last winter, before I got back on the bike, I walked 3-5 miles three times per week. It’s starting to get cold enough to get me off the pedals an onto my feet. Leave running in freezing weather to “tetched” folk like Slice. Keep moving. 👍🏼

Trying to get more deliberate with my training. I’m learning that there are real benefits to doing easy days and dedicated hard days. I’ve been doing everything in the hard day category and that may be limiting my effectiveness.

This week was my first attempts at that. Here’s a sample of easy long run and HARD tempo run. The constant rolling hills of my neighborhood make it tough to have a true easy run in terms of HR.

I’m running that this coming weekend with a buddy. Was supposed to do it yesterday but life happened
The slopes are moderate on the "lift ticket" trails because I think the idea is for bikes to go back up on them. There's some difficult, rocky terrain on the hiking trails if you're running.

My buddy has decided me it a few times. He says the first 2 miles suck. The last 3 ain’t so bad.

I’m assuming my pace will be sloooooooowwwww
