Dobbs tries out for baseball

So, if he rides the pine and doesn't play a second on the field, it will affect his success with the football team? But, if he is ALLSEC in baseball, it wont affect his success with the football team? Just trying to figure out what your problem is with this all.

It's not going to affect his success in any way, and there will be no way to prove it one way or the other, just more baseless speculation.

Being away from football activities very possibly effects others on the football team more so than Dobbs. Leadership matters in the off season very much so IMO

It's worth it if he can contribute and especially if he had the potential to be a mlb draft. I don't see that after seeing perfectgames ranking for him

Or it very possibly doesn't affect anything at all.

I don't know if Butch would really care for this... what if he injures himself? I know football is a lot more physical, but injuries happen in baseball too.

Folks will get their wish and see what Dormady can do in this offense. Also makes the return of Jones to the roster so much more important. Crap happens. Off season is always interesting, to say the least, around these parts. Can't remember the last time we sailed through it without something coming up. Tenn cup up my friend.

Lol

Why on earth do teams even do team workouts then? Perhaps all those team building activities are just a waste of time and $ as well.

You clearly don't know what the off season looks like if you think leadership and teamwork aren't very important during that time

Like I said, I will leave this to Butch's opinion and I think is asinine that Butch is unaware of Dobbs's baseball talent...or lack thereof. The guy knows just about any and every single little detail of his players and I'm pretty sure that if you have seen that he isn't rated very high buy this entity, chances are that Butch has known for much longer than any of us have.

My guess is butch has an agreement with the baseball coaches that IF they think he is talented enough to be an everyday contributor then he will stay with the team. If not he doesn't play baseball.

IMO Dobbs is a Baseball player for a few more days

If Jones didn't want it to happen, it wouldn't. Period.

As far as what if, what if he got injured in spring practice? What if he gets injured training for football? As has been pointed out, lots of athletes play both sports. You can what if all day.

Again, I repeat, if Jones didn't want this to happen, he'd shut it down. He didn't. He's forgotten more than you'll ever know about coaching and the internal workings of the team, so unless you're going to keep acting like you know more than he does, maybe you should concede the people that know what they are doing have it under control.

Wait...........are you suggesting that here at UT, the baseball coaches can dictate whether or not they can just bring over a football player (starting QB at that) and Butch is just powerless because he has an agreement with them? Come on man, that's borderline retarded. If Butch thought for one second that letting Dobbs try out for baseball would affect this team in any way, shape, or form, he would not allow it. You are smarter than this

See my last post.

I am sure jones has a plan/agreement with the baseball coaches

You really think that Jones has an agreement with the baseball coaches that will allow them to tryout any player from the football team and it's not a case by case situation where Butch has to sign off on it?

Huh?

Just what I posted.
Butch is allowing Dobbs to play IF he is a contributor. If not I am sure butch has told the baseball coaches to cut him loose.

Butch is holding the cards Because the kid is on football scholarship

Of course I think it's a case by case basis.

You make no sense.

On one hand you make it sound like it's detrimental that Dobbs be away from the team, then add it WON'T be if he actually plays and contributes. He's not around either way, so whether he plays or not doesn't matter.

You're mixing and cherry picking parts of this argument.

Again it's worth the risk in some ways if he helps the team or himself with the draft.

It's completely a waste for him to sit on the bench

it will be Dobbs decision, CDS will honestly explain to him the role he sees him providing this year and possibly next and Dobbs will make a decision thereafter.

And I would expect CDS to be bluntly honest with that one either way
