We are going to give him a chance , thats for sure . A lot of you guys think if we don't like the hire then we aren't Vol fans . If anyone on here thinks Dooley was the best coach we could find , you need a shrink . We are Tennessee . We are not Kentucky . This guy got hired after several coaches turned us down . He was not the first option in a poor selection to begin with . I will support him and I will always be a Vol but we have the resources to go get ANY coach in America and we got DD.

This is an asinine comment. Say I had a car that perpetually stalled or wouldn't start, and decided to buy a new car. Then my new car turns into a douche and runs away. I wouldn't suddenly decide I should have kept the car that wouldn't run. I'd realize I should have bought a non-douchy new car.

Dooley only lost to Boise by 10, and LSU by 8 last year Pretty good if you are at La Tech I'm excited about him bringing class back to the program.

Yes, Saban was able to turn it around in 4 yrs there, but when he left so did their success.

The guy has TESTICULAR FORTITUDE in my opinion....take the easy road to 'Bama and ride Saban's coat tails or take one of the MOST GOD AWFUL PROGRAMS in Div. 1 football and try to build it up? Takes a pair to do that and he did make them competitive...they had a shoot out with Boise St. on the Field of Smurfs and almost took down L.S.U. So yeah he could be a hot assistant at 'Bama but he took the challenge...a big challenge and statistically was having success. Patience is a virtue....whatelse do we have as Volunteer football fans anyway at this point?

That's not a virtue...that's what Cutcliffe did...step out before you look where you're stepping. It's killing his coaching career. He almost got bailed out and nearly had the job here. I'm so thankful that changed.

With Dooley, taking a gamble and trying to step up in a dead end job is not a sign of intelligence, but of desperation, imho. Cutcliffe was desperate to move on, despite the impossible prospects of success...and UT's offense collapsed because of it. They should have had someone on staff that was being groomed to take over, instead of bringing in someone from a much smaller program. Dooley should not be considered for an upper tier job like this until he was able to demonstrate the ability to WIN, and WIN consistently....like Peterson, Wittingham, Patterson, etc.

That Game was at LA tech I actually watched it. It was on espn or espn2 it was a good game boise st jumped all over them to start then la tech came back but boise started to run it right at them and la tech couldn't stop them

Again if he followed Saban to 'Bama and became a hot commodity we'd not be having this conversation which he could have easily done. Man up and support or don't....either way he is the coach and I hope he makes Tennessee the next best thing to an orgasm.

Hammy tried to use a Carroll disciple....now he's trying a Saban disciple....it is what it is....at least he didn't get a Fulmer disciple!

I was being sarcastic, i was actually trying to mock some of the people calling sports radio in Nashville saying they were selling their tickets or burning their orange gear... jeez guys, but i refuse to rebut on the Cutcliffe comment, he has long standing ties to the program and did a great job at Ole Miss, and has done decently at duke, considering it is Duke......

I can only agree. He may be worse than kiffin as he was the AD also. Maybe the mattress burners will start to understand this is a business. I don't like what kiffin did. I understand though, DD can do the same thing. Ga. is right down the road.
