Name one person who has recruited a top class alone? He was the freaking recruiting coordinator. Give credit where credit is due.

You basically are saying that a coach shouldn't get credit for a championship because he didn't do it alone.

I think people should not so focus on his LSU years but TECH years as to recruiting. Dooley shocked a lot of people in Louisiana by coming in late in the game his first year and getting such a good recruiting class. He has maintained that. He not only has good connections in Louisiana but Arkansas and that critical Texas area.

I have never heard a High School Coach talk bad about him

What he did with so little to work with at Tech in just a few years was something.

Recruiting will be the least of your problems with Dooley

Have you played college ball? seriously....most coaches or staff have a rotation, but are YOU telling ME that the TOP blue chips will play for him...or ANYONE on our staff...I was coached by kippy but I will say he is not nor does he have the grasp of the TEAM...SO...what was your question....

Louisiana Tech was not a bad first head Coaching Job for him at all. I mean he is pretty young and needless to say he started a tad later than many in their coaching career

His win loose record should not be looked at, he is in the same boots as MTSU a school willing to be cannon fotter to get funds to build the program, so he did the best he could with the talent he had...

Witnessed and done for all to see. Time will tell I guess. One thing you forgot I guess, most of the recruiting class is NOT going to USC and are recommitting , dip. If you are a true Vols fan I guess you are hoping you lose this bet.

Well I will give a TECH viewpoint

I think people don't realize how such a proud program like Louisiana Tech had been decimated over just under a decade.

Tenn fans here can recall the pride we had in our womens basketball program. That had gone to hell in a handbasket

Dooley of course soon took over the AD's job. He did not do this because he was bored, or wanted to spend more time away from his wife and kids in the off season.

He did it because he knew the success of the Football Team required a more proactive approach. That is getting fans and Alumni to believe in the TECH brand as it were. When he got that additional job he took it on with gusto. He also was not directing all resources to the Football team. He was loved by all the other Coaches. He realized that sucsess of the TECH brand and thus his Football team relied on the total package of TECH atheletics.

Now did this distract him somewhat from his main job as Football Coach somewhat. Well I have to imagine it had to somewhat with the fires you have to put out. But looking at it in the whole he handled it pretty well.

He is a man that sees the whole big picture. He was not afraid of taking on the risk of being AD and taking all on those headaches. He knew it was crucial for his TEAM's ultimate success and to lay the foundation for something bigger in the future.

Woud have it been better for TENN if Dooley was seasoned a tad more with one or more seasons at TECH. Well I guess so. But life does not work according to a perfect plan and when Carroll retired it set up a sequence of events that well none of us good forsee.

I think you people dont get it...and you will see very soon and when he dont recruit in the top 10 like LK did and people that is what it takes, and if you dont believe me ask Urban Meyer, see if it matters or not, if Dooley cannot recruit in the top 10 1st season then the kids and their fathers dont believe in him...point blank....as far as what LK recruited lets just see who stays...bet ya 2 at most...
