I'm no expert but I think the player walked away with no injuries lol...

What has this world come to if you can't show passion and emotion without being ridiculed? It's not as if he physically harmed the player. It's football... my guess would be that the following play that lineman probably got hit a lot harder than a little slap across the facemask.

You forgot to include the fact that Dooley led LA Tech to their first bowl win in 31 years, something that none of those other coaches you listed accomplished.

It's not about the player getting hurt it's about the coach not being able to control himself.

I say delete this freakin thread-dont need opposing fans and possible recruits reading garbage about our coach b4 he even coaches a dang game. We are suppose to be vols 4 life not just during certain coaching tenures....geez.

For that matter, then, name 2 players for Boise State. Name 2 players for Utah. Name 2 players for TCU. [Without Google.]

Fact of the matter is other coaches (GREAT coaches) can win with teams full of "NO ONE"s (your words). Yet, Dooley went 4-8. UT paid for a last name and a prayer.

We are doomed. I still love the Vols and will not root against them in any way...but we are in for pain and suffering in Football my friends. That is just a matter of fact.

Have no idea where you're coming from. Are we gonna be national contenders next year? Probably not, but Dooley's no idiot. This is make or break time for him too; either he's big league material or he's not. And if he has any of his dad in him, he's gonna be really good for us.

Look man...Dooley is no idiot - far from it...but neither am I. We will be so far from national contention that we shouldn't even mention it. 6 wins will be approaching the miracle level and 4-5 wins is the realistic hope. After that it could get worse. Further...we don't need a guy with a dad - we need a coach!

see that's the biggest issue with the hire
the expectation when CLK bolted is we would get a proven winner, and Hamilton goes out and gets rejection after rejection, and brings Dooley in

TCU gets Texas's leftovers. Texas is the most rich state for fb talent. Hawkins built Boise, how is he doin at CU? Utah competes with BYU for talent, thats all. LT is in the SE with SEC teams and Texas. They are not going to have a lot of success.

Thats funny I know what la tech did before he got there they won 16 games in the 3 years prior to his arrival he won 17 in 3 years... get a clue yourself...oh by the way that coach didn't get a promotion to one of the most storied programs in football either

well if utah only has to compete with BYU who does utah state recruit or idaho they both beat la tech last year... la tech is in a very rich recruiting area where lots of quality players fall thru the cracks...as far as hawkins goes maybe the whole time he was just cashin in on having peterson as his OC maybe he was the main reason for success the whole time since he took over they have elevated their play even more
