Dooley sucks (merged)

He might, but no one could take this bunch and do much with them this year. It is what it is folks. This has been brewing for the better part of 10 years and now it's here. This is what happens when you leave a has been coach in place way too long.

Dooley is the guy who wanted Tennessee and in case ya"ll forgot alot of coaches didn't. Cutcliffe wouldn't even leave Duke to come back to Tennessee. So if Dooley wants Tennessee and the pressure us fans put on him, then we should atleast give him the support he needs to turn this thing around. He did a grat job last year in a short time salvaging a recruiting class and he is also doing ok this year. With two more recruiting classes under his belt and all the freshmen we have now become juniors, I really think that Tennessee will be back to a top 15 program or better. All I am saying is that Dooley was willing to come here when Tennessee is down and alot of coaches said no thanks. It shows me he believes in the program and he is willing to put alot of time and effort to change it for the better. So let's put a little faith and patience in the guy who wanted Tennessee.

He went from making 400k to 2 million...

You and hatvol should share a bed.

At least he had the sack to back up his words with a wager about the Vols -vs- UF, UGA, and Bama.

And though it looks, right now, like my time on VN is limited...I have no problem with confronting those "Vol fans"...such as yourself...who seem to take delight in pointing out "all that is wrong with UT Football".

We're not blind, V_I_I, we see the same things you see. We're not (well, I'm not) all that impressed with Mike Hamilton. Truth is, he should have let Fulmer go at least three years before he did; he should have kept a closer eye on both the men's basketball and baseball programs; and he should have recognized Lane Kiffin for the mercenary he is.

Hindsight is 20/20, right?

But here you come, as always, lording it over those of us who are too ignorant to put on shower shoes without injuring ourselves...talking about how Dooley was a bad hire...we should have written the big check for the big name coach...etc, etc.

Tell me...since you're so wise...how did you get overlooked for the job?

Derek Dooley will make a fool out of you, in time. Not that you need any help.

I just hope he does it in the next two years, so that I'm here to bust your butt about it.

Go Vols.

Amen Brother!!!
I have noticed that A LOT of the same people on here that were praising Dooley for the Superb coaching job he did the first 3 games, are the same ones now saying he sucks and should be run out of town...WTF?!?!?!?!????

FWIW...Welcome to Tennnessee Coach D, where the fans change their opinions like their socks...

Im not looking through 31 pages to find any conversation about this... but we played with 60-65 players this past saturday.... Thats unfathomable to most coaches. If you havent noticed every first half we play is solid. Fatigue is a huge issue. Wait until we even have 75 players playing.

Saying Dooley sucks is an absolute joke he's hamstringed by a mediocre QB and horrid depth. FWIW if you want to see us good anytime soon we HAVE to get above 75 scholarship players and we sure as hec arent going to get there if we have 4 coaches inside of 5 years.

Dooley does not run the ball, miss tackles, miss catching passes, or miss- read coverage, so why would you run him off. I was at the game yesterday, and it was boring but we won the game. We sure do not want the cheater back that my just have us on a probation,This team needs to grow, so be a real fan and give Dooley a chance.

so he hired a average coach who looks to be worse than fulmer was. outstanding

maybe you can explain how he is supposedly worse than fulmer. the guy has coached 4 games here. give the guy a couple of years before you judge him. i think most reasonable fans understood that you might as well throw this year out the window.

of course Dooly wanted Tennessee
He went from making 400k to 2 million...

He also went from WAC to SEC and a school that is supposed to win every year. He also got alot of inpatient fans to give him crap. So I know he is making alot more money but he also has alot more people to answer to. The coach at AIr Force and the coach at Utah would have made more money in Knoxville and the SEC, but didn't have the passion or want to rebuild a struggling program. Saban went 6-6 his first year with alot more scholorship players, I guess it's a good thing someone in Tuscaloosa had some patience. I am not comparing Dooley to Saban, just saying that he needs his two or three years before we honestly say he is no good.

Right now its so frustrateing but its not dooleys fault. He has to clean up the mess that was left to him.you can blame fulmer for his lack of work effort.the smooth talker from last year.what in the hell could dooley ever do to speed up the recovery of this program.last time i checked he doesnt have a majic wand.screw saban his rebuilding of that retard team aint near the job dooleys got in front of him.

I want to win NOW just like the rest of VOLNATION but come on. We are at the bottom. The question is how long it takes to climb back up. I personally dont think there is a coach in the SEC that could do much better with the situation being what it is. I will wear my orange and my big power T magnet on my truck all season no matter what our record is and as long as he's our coach I'll support Dooley. Pour me another glass of the BIG ORANGE KOOLAID.

blamming dooley for the shape tn football is in

is like idiot morons who blame the economy on obama..

when you enherit a shiiit storm it doesint get turned around over night...

but i tell you what...i cant sit through ugly playing like that and CRAP play calling...

i hate to say it but i think we hired the name and not the right guy.

3 years is my snapping point....

You know when Spurrier went to USCe, they were in contention with Vandy to see who could lose the most games in the SEC...However, USCe and THEIR FANS gave the man a chance, and now they look like they might just be playing Bama in December...just saying, give the man a chance...we were ALL willing to do it for the coach who shall not be named here anymore!!!

It's a message board, if you don't like different points of view, you should stay home and talk to yourself

he had 3 years prior to Tennesse and that was nothing stellar

are you really comparing Dooley to Spurrier
Spurrier went 122-27-1 at Florida and won a NC

That's the issue with Hambone, even the game cocks was able to get a proven coach...

Spurrier had no college head coaching experience when he took the job at Duke.
His first season he went 5-6.
Second season went 7-3-1 and beat TN in second game.
A little trivia.

Dooley did nothing impressive at La Tech, but who could have. He has a good staff, give him a chance. Struggling against UAB means nothing, tons of good coaches have flopped against lousy teams in their first year, at least he won the game. If we can't win 9-10 games by 3rd year, let's talk then. It is just irrational to fire a coach after one year, no matter how bad it is.
