Dooley sucks (merged)

There is nothing I disdain more in professional sports than the Chicago Cubs. I have zero respect for human beings who associate with that pathetic joke of a "club"

Pretty close to the Detroit Lions I guess... but at least the Cubs are in the hunt for half the season... the Lions are already trying to figure who the #1 draft pick will be so they spend their Saturdays watching college football instead of game film.

I pity fans of the Lions.

No doubt... they got Stafford for (how many millions?) and they STILL suck. Always have.. always will. MAybe what the NFL should do is instead of ever expanding again.. is get rid of a couple of teams to keep from diluting the "talent".

I couldn't get on due to work circumstances for most of the day today

but 17-20 is his record, and Hambone is hiring him at UT

what a letdown

I love the Vols, and I'm sick to my stomach right now

GET BENT. Your boy fulmer caused the crap, Look at the jr/sr class...no depth. That is on FULMER..So is Wyoming...UAB would kick the dog *&**& out of the cowboys. Fulmer was fired, if you think that MH had the final word, you do not understand. MH was given permission to fire Coach Fulmer,
it was the right choice.

ViL is Fulmer's father? I never knew.

I wonder how many posters actually noticed that this thread was resurrected from January.

who did have the final word?

fulmer losing to wyoming with a full roster of his talent?? Maybe one of the most embarrassing losses in ut history.

You honestly think Hamilton axed Fulmer unilaterally? Few, if any, AD's today have that kind of power.

Agreed. It certainly had to go through the board of trustees, some cat named haslam and another one named thornton...who were all long standing fulmer supporters.

MH definitely didnt just wake up and decide to let fulmer go one day and it automatically happened.

it's pretty easy to judge, when the coach has a win/loss record

I do know that we're stuck with Dooley, so I should get over it, and I really mean for most of my post realtive to the hiring of Dooley to be an indictment of Hambone, since he hired him...

The win/loss record is not the whole story.

What a comment man, Dooley will have us turned in the right direction in a few years. If you can't handle it, stay off the wagon when we turn it around.

Sadly enough, the naysayers actually WANT Dooley to fail so they can say "I told you so".

I am guessing that some people take the approach that "being right" is better than the program being successful.

True but I don't see him failing despite the naysayers

glad I don't fit that bill

so what were your thoughts back in January when Hambone announced Dooley, and you googled him to find out who he was

Let's face it - right now we do not have SEC caliber players. We are a very young team depleted of talent. I don't think any of the so-called top tier coaches (Saban, Meyer, Stoops, etc.) could win 7 games with this team.

The facts are it is going to take a few years to return the program to prominence. What do you expect Hamilton to do, fire him and try again. Duh, that would just delay our return to prominence. Yes, we almost lost to UAB, but we have played some good football considering the talent we have. A great first half against Oregon, decent game against UF and a crappy game against UAB.

Our QB isn't up to par, our O-line is young and inexperienced, our defensive secondary is young and without EB. What do you guys expect? It's easy to look good with great talent, not so easy with sub-par talent.

So far I like what I've seen from Dooley. Let's see how the year plays out before we hang him out to dry.
