Dooley sucks (merged)

What if we win 9 games? Is the coaching staff still a joke? Bagget the only coach to leave? Yes he retired. You sound as if you want them all to leave. FYI, Coach Dooley may or may not be done with coaching changes. CCB left because he retired. End of story. I honestly cannot think of any other coaches that should leave or be fired. Perhaps you can enlighten us as to whom should be fired - and exactly why? In detail please.

I'm hoping he wins at least 10 games...winning 10, will put him 1 game over .500 for his career...
So it takes that at a minimum to move him to the ranks of a winning coach

and in the 10, it would be awesome to beat FL, GA, USCe, and Bama

well La Tech is Dooley's comparison to Saban's MSU...and Dooley went 17-20 there

Saban went 34-24 at MSU, so if Saban was 17-20 I don't think he gets hired at LSU...

In fact with this round of coaching openings, I'll wager that no one gets hired with a HC record at or below what Dooley's was when we hired him...

OSU- Urban Meyer....104-23
Wash State- Mike Leach.....84-43
Kansas- Charlie Weiss......35-27
North Carolina- Larry Fedora.....33-19

updated

So you're saying that with Dooley's coaching record there's no chance Arizona St or UCLA comes in and hires him away from us. No chance at all ?......rats :banghead2:

Not quite. He was 25-22-1 his first 4 years.

Their records are similiar thru their first few years. Saban was mediocre at best his entire time at MSU except for his final year and they still never won a bowl game under him.

Doesn't mean that Dooley will be successful or not, just interesting to compare.

We could also throw out Coach K's record at Duke after his 3rd year was 38-47 and the last game of the season his 3rd year there they lost to Virginia 109-66.

Thanks for the help in recruiting with this thread! Prospects do read this stuff...so this thread was sure an exercise in good judgement. Not!

dooley's acccomplishments on the field far outway this thread, so start winning

I agree, however wouldn't you agree that playing the #1,2,3,9, and 14 teams back to back to back to back to back to back without your 4 best players on each side of the ball can hamstring your team, just a little.

Not to mention the fact that LSU and Bama, who we played back to back, might have two of the best teams EVER in the SEC in the same year.

It's kind of like throwing a chihuahua into fight with a pitbull and saying "go get him!" then blaming the trainer for the carnage that is laying around afterwords.

yes that stretch against LSU BAMA Arky was brutal...but KY isn't a "pitbull" especially when they had to start a WR at QB

We agree. But every coach lays an egg at some point and with your hatred of Dooley you should be glad we lost because it shaved one year of any equity he might have had on his time to get things done.

Personally I was glad to get the loss out the way. Would much rather lose this year, even as bad as it stunk, as opposed to a fluke loss like the 96 Memphis game, that might ruin a good year.

If that KY loss causes Dooley to make changes he might not have made and made players get mad enough to start leading or working harder than they would, I'm glad it happened this year.

good post but you didn't use pictures and crayons so your message will be misunderstood by the ones that you intended it for

I've never said I hated him...He's just over his head as the coach of Tennessee...I also understand why he took the job, went from making $400K a year to $2MM..So while he may not have the coaching ability to be successful at Tennessee, he's not an idiot

Dooley has to figure out how to get his players to play over their heads for a game or two next year, steal one they shouldn't win. Ihave been patient with him and sitting on the fence but next year is it, no more excuses, if the team "isn't very good" it's either coaching or recruiting and he's the one pulling those wagons.

Using legendary coaches' records is not a valid argument. I think the vast number of coaches who start poorly, end poorly as well. A handful of examples does not change this. Everyone in the NBA is tall, but not everyone who is tall plays in the NBA.
