exactly, you still can't tell me anything about him. i never said anything about jumping off a cliff over him.I'm just saying let's not jump off a cliff and let's not anoint him the next Saban. We don't know anything about him other than a bio and a 10 minute press conference. Like I said, I'll make a judgment down the road. I'm pulling for him though. I hope he succeeds.
Hamilton whiff on both of them. I remember vividly saying the same things about the prospects of his hiring...that there were more qualified guys than him.
Kelly and Wittingham were just 2 of such...One year later, I'll be damned if I'm not right again...and yet Hamilton goes with the low budget pick.
thanks

Im feel better about it than I did Kiffin trashing TN's name and making us look like the jackasses when he lied to us and started trouble with everyone. I was embarrassed by him because he acted like he deserved to win. Somebody got too many atta boys when he was little cause daddy was gone coaching football.
I mean, Kiffy chose to go to the sunshine state over Rocky Top... Really? Seams that that creampuff should get what he deserves. Least our boy Dooley grew up in the south and knows what a handshake and a man's word mean.

Hamilton did NOT whiff on Kiffin. That was a home run hire given the coaching staff that was brought in as well. Kiffin would've been very successful here.
Hamilton might've hit another home run with Dooley. He might've whiffed. We'll see soon enough.
Has anyone seen some of the players he recruited at la tech.they were not any 4 or 5 star recruits but he did out recruit bama and lsu on some fine 3 star players.I think we will end up with a top 10 class this year still.
I'll be the first to admit that when I heard it was going to be CDD from LA Tech I was a little suprised. But after reading all I can about him tonight, after watching his P.C. I come off as very impressed with the man. I have high hopes that he will once again emphasize the traditions that make TN football great and I honestly feel he will embrace the university. Anyone who can handle being both HC and AD at a university surely has the organizational skills and work ethic to be a success at TN. And many people forget that many hires that the great UT has made in respect for coaches have come from no-name individuals. Even Neyland whom we all know and love was a nobody in reality before he came here. Many others followed. Pat Summit and Bruce Pearl had limited or no resume's before their time here and noone will argue they've had success. So give the man a chance. He may end up being the next Neyland.
that's a key
he's gotta be here to be successful
last I saw he hopped a G5 and was in SoCal
No problem. You and I disagree over Clawson...big whoop! We are still Vol fans and the reason we gripe about certain hires is because we are passionate about our Vols.
I'm personally giving my support to Dooley until he gives me reason not to...it may not take long for him to give me a reason though.
Yeah, he took the one job that a blind monkey knew he was going to take if it ever opened up and he was offered. That doesn't mean that it was a whiff. Hamilton can't see the future. Kiffin couldn't see the future. No one knew what happened with USC, Carroll, and the Seahawks would happen.
I couldn't get on due to work circumstances for most of the day today
but 17-20 is his record, and Hambone is hiring him at UT
what a letdown
I love the Vols, and I'm sick to my stomach right now
yeah but its La tech.. would you choose tech over tennessee if you were a 4 or 5 star???
