That's true, but nobody is pretending that equipment used in refining, pumping, and other aspects of gas/diesel production aren't powered by electricity. The EV industry has very much tried to dodge the fact that most of the power that goes into EV charging and certainly production comes from electric power generated by fossil fuels.
