FORMULA-ONE - F1: Michael Schumacher Returns To Formula One - SPEEDtv.com

As we exclusively predicted on Saturday evening – just hours after Felipe Massa’s accident – Michael Schumacher will indeed replace the Brazilian at the European GP.

As we outlined then , Schumacher is the obvious choice for all sorts of reasons, but most importantly for the team perhaps he is no threat to Massa’s return to the team, which a driver with a longer career ahead of him might have been.

Despite the protestations of his manager Willi Weber – who appears to have been deliberating misleading the media or genuinely failed to second guess his long-time client– Michael has decided to return.

In
a statement he said: ‘Though it is true that the Formula One chapter has long been closed for me, it is also true that for team loyalty reasons I cannot ignore that unfortunate situation.’

He will get the chance to race at three tracks he knows well and has had huge success at in Spa, Monza, Suzuka and Interlagos, while he also sample three new temporary venues at Valencia, Singapore and Abu Dhabi.

My God. The dark lord returns.

i just hope he doesn't get himself killed. sometimes these things don't work out for drivers and the longer you're out of the car, the harder it is to get back in it.

WTH happened in qualifying in Spa this morning? No rain and Fisichella put the Force India on the pole?! Alonso, Button, and Hamilton didn't even make the top 10?

Looks like Fisichella may replace Badoer at Ferrari for the next race.

Good moves by Raikkonen to take the lead within the first few laps... but Fisichella hung right with him the entire race. Pretty wild seeing a Force India stalking a Ferrari the whole race and never fading away.

Ouch.

Is there any limit on what these teams will do to win? Apparently anything that is possible is probable.

So it's looking like Alonso to Ferrari, Raikkonen back to McLaren, and Kubica to Renault for 2010.

glad to see Ferrari finally get Alonso.

i've been terrible at F1 this year. i haven't watched a single race.

it will be interesting to see if ferrari will keep fisichella around next year to run beside alonso, they did a great job together for renault and we all know the results of that partnership.

Also, if Bernie had got his way with the medal/winner-take-all system, Button would've locked up the championship in Singapore.

Looks like Massa will be back at Ferrari next year alongside Alonso with Fisichella as the third driver.

Also seems Barrichello and Rosberg are gonna swap rides.
