For the record folks, randy sanders is offensive

Coordinator/ qb coach of a national championship team. Is it possible that he will establish himself enough to eventually become our head coach? I know there are a lot of necks that don't understand football and don't like him, but if Fsu wins another title soon with his leadership, he is positioning himself nicely. I like butch a lot, but if he become very successful, michigan may come calling. Just things to think about. Go randy! Go vols!:hi:

There is a lot of stupidity on the interwebs nowadays, but this is near the top of all of it. Smh.

Sanders is an outstanding coach. Always thought he was Phil's scapegoat. I would love to see him get a shot at a place like Arkansas St. or Tulsa, etc.

While I don't fully support the intent behind this thread, I will say that Coach Sanders receives more blame than he deserves for the troubles on teams here in those days. He is a better coach than given credit for. I agree others will come calling for CBJ, but I'm hopeful he'll stay with us. JMO

Wasn't he the coordinator when Kentucky beat us with their 5th string q.b.???

Were you not around from '02 to '05 when the Big Orange offense went straight into the ground. Chavis should have gotten half of Sanders' salary as much as his defense bailed out Sanders' offense. I've seen some dumb posts on here but this is by far the worst.

You are correct. Chavis definitely should have gotten half of "7-Points Sanders" salary. I didn't agree with Sanders getting the OC position but Phil said he had earned it and deserved it.......I still, to this day, believe 7-Points was the wrong hire.

As for Sanders being the Head Coach at UT, Hell No.

You mean when they scored 10 points to our 7? Yeah, I think he was but that is hardly an example of how he was ever a good coordinator....This thread fails worse than a Delta pledge.

Randy Sanders was a scapegoat for Fulmer who never allowed him full control of the offense while at Tennessee. Most don't realize this but Sanders is one of the brightest guys to ever coach at UT, he's a genesis. He would have made a much better head coach than Dooley.

A genesis? You don't say!

In all seriousness, I do agree, Sanders was definitely a genesis - the genesis of Fulmer's fall. Had he fired Sanders sooner he might still be coach, or at least, gotten to retire a few years later on his own terms.

Yes, He could have gone to an Ivy League school instead of UT.

He did wonders for Winston last season at FSU, They do not win the BCS Title without Sanders last season.

I think Phil Collins was the genesis guy. And no way Randy Sanders is a genius.

I think we have Jones for the next 12-15 years. Then, I think the OC who will likely be the best head coach is Roper. I am afraid he will get the offense at Florida reved up and will save Mushcamp's job. When he does that, he will be the next hot head coach.

I'm not a Randy Sanders apologist, but I will say that he was over-ridden in his offensive play calling more than most think by CPF. The Notre Dame game in Knoxville a few years ago was classic. I was at the game and you could tell the offense was confused at several critical times. There were statements made after that game in particular which seem to indicate that CPF and Sanders were not on the same page and CPF over-ruled.

Now that he has 2 NCs under his belt as an OC, his stock is only going to go up. A MAC team may come calling.

Randy is a good coach that gave his all to TN as a player and coach. He is a true VFL. He has not forgot where he came from. He grew up and played high school ball in east TN at Morristown East. He is the guest speaker at a fundraiser for the Morristown Boys and Girls Club Tuesday June 24.
Go listen to Randy speak and support a great organization at the same time.
