I don't think I've ever left any doubt that I detest Bruce Pearl. That said, I have no reason, based on other things he's quietly done in the community, that his actions last night were anything but genuine.

Of course, many of the same posters who will rush to this thread to deify Pearl are the same folks who mocked John Calipari, who has given more money to charitable causes than Bruce Pearl has made in his lifetime, raising a million dollars for Haitian erathquake relief as a publicity stunt.

Agree 100% with everything said here.

I don't see him having interest in the NBA. He fits college coaching and I expect him to stay at that level. ESPN will jump on the chance to hire him and he will do a good job for them. I truly hope he has learned a valuable life lesson from all this and will ultimately return to college coaching somewhere and have another opportunity at that level.

Of course, a cheater and liar like Calhoun remains at the university he loves for no other reason than he continued to lie and throw an assistant or two under the bus. AND, the violations that occurred at UCONN are much worse than the ones Bruce committed. I don't know that I've ever seen anyone defend Calhoun in here, but now wouldn't be a good time to start.

And I know of some specific things Cal has done as well that were under radar. I live very close to UK and my opinion of the man has improved some since living here.

This is 100% true. Martin may eventually be a better coach for the program, but it is highly unlikely he could ever love UT has much as Bruce did and has big shoes to fill in the effort department

I agree 100%. And something tells me that if Martin did begin to have great success at our program, he would bolt to another school.

I read them and assumed you just got lost.

Who's he gonna coach for and in what capacity? He gonna be the offensive or defensive guru?

Most NBA teams are itching to put in the "modified flex."

Come on. You know good and well Pop is just dying to pick Pearl's brain about halfcourt offense.

Don't know where and in what capacity, but he could get a job in the NBA if he wanted. More than likely a defensive guru

There just aren't any rah-rah style positions at the next level. He's beat suited to to rebuild job that needs marketing and an up tempo game to bring excitement.

Exactly. He can show them how to get destroyed by a ball-screen offense by implementing the infamous "ice" strategy.

I wouldn't hold my breath awaiting a ceremonial NBA position. The GM that pulls him down as his defensive guy is dancing with unemployment.

See, this is how these threads get hijacked. MY bad, I thought maybe his connection with Grunfeld might help him out if he needed work next year.

Regardless of the so called experts here, I stand by my opinion he could work in the NBA if he desired.

I'd pay courtside prices to see a guy like Thibodeau or Pop tell Pearl to shut the hell up, go talk to Cheryl Miller and leave the coaching to the adults.
