Friday weigh in thread (suns out guns out challenge 8/31/2025)

219

I've gained 20 since last October. Complacency and old eating habits are kicking in. The summer running season will take care of that. I want to be around 190 for the 4 Bridges Half Marathon in mid-October.

What are you guys doing? Dieting? Exercising?

I've hurt my shoulder, which has stopped my traditional style workout and is probably why I got fat again.
It was a slow climb to fatness.
I've cut soda out except for cheat day and changed up the diet. Changed my workout to walking/running/biking and what yoga I can do without pain. Lost 10 real quick hit a stall and now seem to be losing again.

I'm trying to switch to a new lifestyle instead of just a diet. My thought is if I get to where I can't exercise then my new lifestyle will prevent me getting fat again

I cut out garbage.

What all have you cut out? I'm trying to eliminate sodas, fast food and snacking on potato chips. I've always found that counting calories worked for me. I can eat what I want as long as I stay under my calories. I still plan on drinking beers on weekends only, but still stay under my daily calorie intake. I'll do extra cardio those days :)

I am trying to change my lifestyle as well. In my profession, there is always a weekly bar association function that has appetizers and booze. I am trying to drink water at those and eat protein apps.

Back in 06-07 I tried south beach diet. Worked for me, and was very easy to follow. So I follow kind of the same principles now. Don't eat starchy stuff that turns to sugar. Never ate a lot of sweets anyway, so cutting those was easy. Salty fats is my addiction.

For me, it's a combination. I use a daily calorie diary app called Lose It and I do my best to stick to its daily calorie budget. And I run. For running, it helps to have something to train for, so I participate in at least one organized race event a month.

I need to add strength training to the mix. When I weighed over 300 lbs, I had the natural strength that came from hauling my fat ass around. Now that I'm under 220, I struggle with things that once came easily.

In 2009 I cut out fast food and did not have it for 2-3 years. I have it a handful or less a year now.

What I've found that works for me is similar to you, cut the calories, portion control and up the activity.

I recently got back into sodas and eating out. Last January when I wanted to lose weight I cut that out and only allowed us to eat out once a week, if that. This time I am cutting out the sodas and not eating out until I lose my 10-13 lbs. Once I do, it will only be once a week again.

Went to the Dr last week. Down 68 lbs.
Becoming a diabetic really packed on the weight before I figured out what was going on. Back down to 248 still got a ways to go but I'm about 30lbs from where I want to be

Cutting sugar, some carbs but Im not giving up potatoes lol. Just mainly portion control. Going to start walking and get back into the gym. Had an injury that kept me out for awhile but it seems to OK now, just gonna take it slow for awhile

I'm running something called Protein Sparing Modified Fast until my wedding. Basically 900 calories/day made up of about 90% protein to keep muscle in tact.
