Friday weigh in thread (suns out guns out challenge 8/31/2025)

Whatever they need. I just have a hard time celebrating weight loss my eating the exact thing that made me a fat ass in the first place. I quit a 20+ year tobacco habit and didn't do it by rewarding myself with a dip every week. To each their own I guess

Quitting and scaling back are two different goals. Like volly said, you have to pick what works for you. She cut out ribeyes, I'm not going to do that, but I'm also not going to have them weekly.

And there's a difference between needing to lose 10lbs (cosmetic) and 75lbs (health). A ribeye has benefits (steak/meats/fats is a solid part of my diet and many others) while a pop tart or cake has none. Those should not be scaled back by someone in need of real weight loss for their health. It's just yet another thing used to excuse negative behavior. I sabotaged myself with those exact same excuses for many years and am positive I'm not alone. Just look around and see how many people are literally killing themselves with the modern diet

Quite a few around my office saw my results and joined in what I was doing. There are only 2 still doing it with me now (with great success) while the others simply dropped back to their previous habits because they "just can't give up X foods...." Sadly a few truly need the weight loss but just can't do it.

Started at 240 on Tuesday and today I'm 236.2. Going to do some light light cardio all weekend in hopes to move the scale even more with this aggressive diet.

Someone that is largely overweight or obese certainly doesn't need cheat days.

If you're just trying to lose the dad bod, eat a well balanced diet and enjoy yourself on occasion.

Obviously if you know you don't have the willpower to stop at one slice of cake or one beer then you should not eat it.

Stepped on the scale this morning down 74 lbs. Ahead of schedule, wanted to be back down to about 210-215 by end of summer. Now this is over a year and a half. Blood sugar has Been holding between 100-120 where as it was in the high 200s to 300s

Amazing stuff! How much have you spent on clothes in that time frame?

You should go have a pop tart to celebrate :)

A lot on jeans and shorts...down from a 42 waist to 36-38 depending on the brand

Same sizes as you and I needed dress pants as well. I'm now a 36 waist (down from 42 also)and have dropped from a XXL shirt to usually fitting in a large or XL slim fit. Strange feeling but a good problem to have

I can wear 32 waist pants, but not all are comfortable, so if I can find them, I'll buy 33's. Shirts are mostly XL, but I could probably wear a large if it's a brand that is cut generously like Duluth Trading Company.

I'll never be in an Xl shirt,my shoulders and back are to wide lol

First time posting in this thread. I started trying to get rid of the dad bod a couple of weeks ago at 234 lbs (I'm 46 yo). Last week, I was down 4. This week, I've been on vacation, but have watched my calories (I use MyFitnessPal). No access to a scale today, so I'll have to wait until Monday or so to measure progress. So far, just watching intake, but plan to add 20-30 minutes of cardio per day next week.

Thanks for your stories of success and encouragement!

Will update progress below:
5/19 - 234
5/26 - 230

I've been sober 8 years.
It's not the same.

Let's put it this way.
I dropped to 198 years ago. It was too light. So I went up to 205-209 and held it till recently. Every Friday I had a 20 oz coke and a cinnamon roll. Recently I hurt my shoulder and now can't work out the way I did. That same diet that held 205 allowed me to creep up in weight by not working out. Now I'm tweaking the diet again and walking to get the weight off until I can get my shoulder fixed. You can bet a sweet roll and coke will be part of the plan

Just like every other addictive substance, it's different for different people. You're fine with having a little sugar once a week. Some people go on a huge binge the second it hits their lips. People just need to take an honest look at their eating behaviors and determine whether they can properly manage building in cheat days.

100% agree with this entire post.

Went on vacation and managed to not gain any weight. Didn't lose any either.
I'm calling it status quo.

Dr says I won't need surgery on my shoulder. He also said the physical rehab is going to suck so bad I'd wish I had surgery instead.

5/5: 239
5/12: ?
5/19: ?
5/26: 227
6/2: 225
6/9: 228

I'll to have to start working out in order to shed more from here.

Goal is going to always be lighter than 4 weeks before. So I have two weeks to drop two pounds.

Target: 200 by June 30, 2018
